just to piss you off
Can you identify a genital wart?
I think because Springsteen is tried & proven "major-league" just like the NFL. I can see the parallel. I might own maybe one of his cd's(Born To Run) but he has alot of good songs. I can picture alot of acts that I'd rather not see at Super Bowl half-time. At least it's rock & roll isn't it? - Jerk-sy style be as it may. A fairly decent choice all considered-Bruce will bust 'em up!
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!

It's a conspiracy: The NFL wants the Giants in the Superbowl because they play in New Jersey.
If The Clarks and Donny Iris were playing the halftime show, the Steelers would be playing Tampa

My Dad told me that he saw ZZ Top in Pittsburgh around '75 or '76, and there were guys in the crowd putting M-80's or something similar into beer bottles and throwing them up in the air and across the crowd, shattering and spraying glass everywhere....
But yea Kevin I'm with you on alot of these ticket prices, alot of them just aren't worth it to me. I'd rather listen to the album and hear a good version of the song, and spend my money on candy.
There's actually only a few bands that I really want to see live anyway, including Dio, Iron Maiden, and Sabbat w/ Andy Sneap. From what I've seen on videos and youtube, most bands sound like shit live anyway...
Megadeth is sounding really good lately too.
TV and Radio always shove shit down the throats of the buying public, so I stay away from the popular stuff...Much easier that way..

Whether you dig The Boss's music or not, you have to respect the man's work ethic. He would take a lot of younger artists to school on how it's done on stage. Even though he's highly successful, he still plays three hours a night, whereas other people may have three openers and play a 50 minute set.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
Bruce Springsteen just won a Golden Globe Award tonight for another awful, mumbling dirge of a song (like many of his songs are and sounds like everything he does lately) for the movie soundtrack for The Wrestler. I guess you don't have to do anything good and people will think it is great just because it has Bruce Sprinsgteen's name on it.
Take a listen.

Well I guess
I watched Bruce Springsteen as I was growing up and he was the complete anti establishment working class hero. I love a lot of his music. The guy has been performing with a vengeance for many years, talk about paying your dues. Bruce puts it out there so love him or hate him he is what he is. An American Icon. He has always held to his ideals and spoke his mind. He even has a political opinion!
Think about the bands around here that have been together 15 plus years and what they mean to the local scene. Think about the effort that it takes to keep a band together for that long.
Now take that to the level that Springsteen is and think about it.
At first you think wow that would be easy. Not so much, I mean come on, if it was easy to achieve then at least a few of us here would already be doing it. Yeah luck, right place right time.... Whatever....
I know that the opinions of the masses mean little to this community of artists and deep thinkers but when it comes down to it they are the ones who pay the bills.
So I say good choice for the entertainment!
I am looking forward to the Superbowl and the halftime show.
And "The Boss" is putting another album out soon. And they release on vinyl...

Thats harsh. Many do like him. Guy has had an amazing work ethic over the years and just because you and some of your friends don't care for his music doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things.Bruce Springsteen? Why? I don't know anyone that likes that douchebag.
He's in the top 5 of best shows I've ever seen (I've seen A LOT) and I'm not even a big fan. Guy played (well) for 3 hours without stopping.
I don't listen to him much EXCEPT The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle which IMO is one of the best albums ever. Maybe the problem is you are judging him by his mainstream hits (he has a huge catalogue of music: some great, some bad, some mediocre), Never a good idea to judge an artist by Top 40 songs, its usually the worst stuff they have. You know that, right?
If music be the food of love, then play on...
