I respect Obama more and more cause of the way he actually listens to those who would have his head, he gives them all a chance and tries to play fair.

Can we be saved? Hell I don't know. I will work on my little part of the world here. If you lose your job to a minority and need food call me. I will feed your family if it comes to it.

If you lose your job and hit hard times, call me. I will do whatever I can for anyone. We can pull together as a group and each of us can give a little to support those who are in need.

That might help to eliminate some of your fears.

We are strong together. We have to get away from them and us cause the whole boat is sinking, not just my side.

You know what's really funny about all of this? All the liberals ever did was hate on Bush. I mean there was a real hatred there. They called him a Nazi, said all kinds of slanderous bullshit from hearsay, had fucked up pictures of him, completely HATED the guy and showed it. Now all the sudden, we have Obama, and it's "why can't we just come together?" And if you talk bad on Obama, you're a racist, or a bad person for some reason or another. Well these people better not get pissed off when people dislike Obama's socialist ideals and bad decisions, because that would make you a hypocrite. Bush made some poor decisions, but so did congress, and everyone else. At least he had a mind of his own, rather than spewing far left rhetoric.

I also find it scary that if someone asks Obama a tough question, he gets all flustered, mad, and scolds the person who asked. That's fucked up! You are the President Mr. Obama, it's time to answer the hard questions rather than do absolutely nothing...which is what got him elected anyway. He didn't have any experience, but in this day and age, experience doesn't matter. It's what you didn't do that gets you elected.

I usually don't pay any attention to political threads, but I can remember Bush giving some flustered, completely assinine reply when asked a tough question. Oh, and don't forget to throw in a "liberty, patriot, or freedom" every chance you get. Face it, he is an uneducated dick.

Bush didn't get mad and tell the person not to ask questions. Sure Bush got flustered from time to time, but he always backed up his decisions. Obama just gets mad and doesn't answer the question. And by the way, this thread is about Obama, not a comparison to Bush.

I know, right??
All his administration ever did was win his election by judgement in his brother's home state, install his election team as his cabinet, take a month-long vacation 5 months into his presidency, ignore terror intelligence leading to 9/11, incorrectly send us into Iraq looking for WMD's, preside over the exodus of the manufacturing sector, ignore troop deficiencies in Afghanistan and instead send double the amount to Iraq, disclosed the Iraq Invasion plan months before it happened, forget to secure Iraqi munitions dumps, cover up friendly-fire incidents in Afghanistan, hire Dick Cheney's "former" company to rebuild Iraq without the benefit of the bidding process, create the biggest deficit in history out of a surplus left him by the evil Mr. Clinton, grow the government larger than ever, cover up a shooting so it wouldn't hit the Sunday news shows, out a CIA agent over her whistle-blowing regarding yellowcake that didn't ever exist, suspend habeus corpus, use the GOP e-mail system instead of the White House system so it wouldn't be traceable, forget to send troops to New Orleans for Katrina then buy thousands of toxic trailers that sit empty still (heckuva job!), invent something called "swift-boating" whereby someone is smeared by unrelated people who seem above reproach, attempt to privatize Social Security, give tax breaks to Big Oil while America's economy failed, declare Mission Accomplished in Iraq, use talk-radio to rally the farthest reaches of the right-wing into believing they are the majority, discourage stem-cell research on phony moral grounds so the pharmaceutical industry could continue making drugs instead, preside over exponential growth in pharmacols while outlawing Canadian drugs that are cheaper, favor the rich with tax cuts while the middle class shrank, take credit for any lull in Iraq violence and ignore bodycounts (4100+), make it illegal to photograph flag-draped soldiers' coffins to minimize their negative impact, attempt to grant illegal aliens amnesty because of the cheap labor, told us to duct-tape our windows in case of bio-attacks, claim executive priviledge more than any other admin, expand the powers of the Vice President far beyond any other admin, commute the sentence of the fall-guy in the CIA-outing incident, poisoned the entire GOP in the last election... shit, I'm getting tired of typing this.
When you add it all up like that, it just says something about the people who want to ignore it all and pretend they chose the right guys for the job. You have to wonder how far they would have let it go, and where it would have taken us in another Neocon administration. You have to mull over what is in them that makes them so steadfastly believe in failure. I think it's mostly that people like Rush present the world so simply: we are good, they are not. Whatever we do is right, whatever they do is wrong. It makes the world so much easier to think about, not having to see more than one side.---->JMS

+1

I am in no way, shape, or form giving Obama a free pass just because he's not Bush (thank God) and can talk a big game. However, I'm waiting to see what he is going to do - or not do - before I pass judgment on his abilities. I knew that the reactionary right would be crying foul if the man farted in the wrong direction during his first week in office. I'm looking for something a little more substantial than closing Gitmo and moving the prisoners to a different facility. ;)

Honestly, I think the man can either be the next Kennedy or the next Carter. For the sake of America, I hope it's the former.

I didn't hate Bush until I read songsmith's post.
No, just kidding, I've hated him for about 7 years. I did vote for him the first time I'm ashamed to admit.

I hope you're joking, throw some emoticons in there or something.
Rob's a friend, and one of the better drummers I've ever seen around here. We disagree politically, but we all do on some level.
You'd never know it, but I get along with UCJoe pretty well in the real world, too. He's maybe the most knowledgeable non-musician I know, and his musical tastes are generally spot-on.
I'd go to bat for either one of 'em, we only throw virtual stones at one another. --->JMS

A libertarian from Tyrone. Yessss. This movement is growing. We have to throw off the Republican-Democrat feud and get rid of all these self serving politicians. Getting back to a Constitutionally guided government will help

i've been saying this for years. politicians don't give a shit about the people. show me one person in power that isn't corrupt and i'll... well... i won't do anything, but i bet it'd be hard to find one. and don't say obama... that boat don't float, sir.
