YouTube Covers Being Removed
YouTube Covers Being Removed
I read on another site that some of the band's covers have been removed from You Tube due to copyright infringement. Anyone here having that problem ?

not with covers being taken down, but with actual songs not having audio because of copyrights. kinda sucks, i use youtube to learn songs and when you can't find the studio version of the song to learn, it sucks...
i dunno... i saw this coming when the whole napster thing went down

WMG (Warner Music Group) is removing videos that they have not approved for broadcast on YouTube. This not only includes vids from fans, but also includes vids from artists that are signed to an indy label but use WMG for distribution. It really sucks. Some of the smaller indy labels are losing every video that they have because of Warner.

It's not even that. For example, Warner made Roadrunner Records take down all their music vids due to WMG's fight with YouTube. Roadrunner is home to artists like Nickelback, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce, Slipknot, Theory Of A Deadman, Cradle Of Filth, Airbourne, and oh, one of your favorites, DREAM THEATER.
All those bands got their vids pulled down off the Roadrunner Records page of YouTube, and Roadrunner is their fucking label!! That, to me, is some serious bullshit.

the thing about it is that... who is watching youtube instead of buying the cd? if someone tells me "you gotta check out so and so" i go to youtube and check out a vid with the studio version on it. i think they are probably only hurting themselves with this stupid copyright bullshit. as a musician, the last thing i would bitch about are people watching my band on youtube. what it is is all of these bands don't retain the rights to their songs, the label does... wich confuses me about all of this. if the band or the signing label owns the rights... how can the company responsible for distribution take down the songs??

If your one of our "friends" on myspace, you should have received our bulletin I sent out earlier.... A place for bands to upload their videos ( originals or covers) No, its not as huge as youtube, but different rules apply.
(I know most even hate the name, but Rock Band videos are even getting pulled or muted, there was several members accounts that got suspended or banned, because of the rock band videos they made)

And on a related note, I didn't realize that Dream Theater was on Roadrunner now.
