well, let's see more of this. i wanna see all these crooked bastards go down. i'm sick of looking at washington and seeing people practically get away with anything and everything.
maybe obama does mean change... wait a sec, obama had nothing to do with it. the IRS and FBI did. go secret government agencies!!

Can you identify a genital wart?
"The FBI is showing a lot of interest in" a lot of people around Murtha, said Keith Ashdown of Taxpayers for Common Sense. "If I was in Murtha's camp, I would not be sleeping at night."
"The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has called Murtha one of the most corrupt members of Congress..."
And the Taxpayers For Common Sense, and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics In Washington... these are mainstream moderate, centrist groups, I take? You can assure me they're not conservative thinktanks that make statements for the far right? Propaganda.
They went back to touch base on ABSCAM, back in the 70's... and made it sound like telling the undercover agents "No deal" was a bad thing. They tried to railroad him, and he didn't go for it. Last fall, the Rove machine sent a guy to "take him down" and he sent the carpet-bagger home, with the help of the Bush Backlash.

Johnny, are you in support of the biggest pork spender in the history of Congress? Did you support him when he called the Marines involved in the Haditha incident "murderers" even before he had read any report? Will you support him when the FBI brings charges against him?
It always amazes me who "moderates" support. Murtha is a tax and spend, big government liberal, but you are the first one here to jump to his support.

We had a guy JUST like Murtha here in our district... his name was Bud Shuster, he was a Republican, and he used his position and seniority to bring pork here. That was his job. He was good at it. That other stuff is verbatim talking points, and only other neo's listen to those anymore.undercoverjoe wrote:Johnny, are you in support of the biggest pork spender in the history of Congress? I don't support Murtha, per se, but I do enjoy that Murtha sends the locals into absolute fits. He's the freaking boogey-man, and the far right's addicted to every word he says. It's awesome. Sure he's a clown. I don't hear anyone arguing that, but Republicans bring home pork all the time. I never hear you condemning that. As a "libertarian."--->JMS

I'm sorry if anyone else disagrees, but I will vote for Murtha every time his name is on a ballot. He and ONLY he is the sole reason that people in Johnstown make decent money (decent money= non fast food employment) And I promise every single one of you, as soon as Murtha leaves office (cuz he'll never be voted out) Johnstown will turn into a ghost town, reminiscent of when all the mills closed. I don't understand how anybody can be against him, because he brings in good paying jobs with high tech companies that have military application to keep our soldiers safe? So I'm gonna pull a Republican trick, " if you're not for Murtha, you're for the terrorists." And you're right, Shuster did the same exact thing, and he's a hero in that region, just drive down any highway out there and it's the "Bud Shuster- something or other", and that's great, cuz that's a congressman's job, to represent his region and do all he/she can to better it.

John Murtha is the undisputed poster boy for everything that's wrong with Congress--nobody else even comes close. He's duped his constituents time and time again with a handful of federally funded jobs.
Good jobs in Johnstown? Because of Murtha? That's a loller.
From SimplyHired.com:
"According to government data, the average salary for jobs in Johnstown, Pennsylvania is $22,977, and the median income of households in Johnstown was $20,595."

"According to government data, the average salary for jobs in Altoona, Pennsylvania is $25,046, and the median income of households in Altoona was $28,248."

I thought a Congressman's job is to uphold the Constitution. Bringing pork back to your district (or not after reading Lonewolf's post) is not what they are supposed to do. Those of you who cannot live without the government teat, keep on voting this country more socialist.KyleMayket wrote:I'm sorry if anyone else disagrees, but I will vote for Murtha every time his name is on a ballot. Chew on this thought for a little bit, how about the government takes a whole lot less of our money, they we will not need to rely on the few and meager handouts the government throws our way. Oh uh, then there is no need for criminals like Murtha.

Will I get a government issues house and Mercedes if we go socialist? In that case I would go for it. Well, then again, I don't think so - I am not going to work my butt off to give another person who is too lazy part of what I make, whoa! Hold on! I already do that, it is called welfare .....
Music Rocks!
Chew on this, if there were no government, that's called anarchy, and it's a pipe dream. No gov't would mean no defense. No laws would mean if somebody hurt you or your people, too bad. No taxes would mean no roads for business to transport goods, no protection for anyone or anything, no justice, no security, this country would be on a par with The Republic of the Congo, or Somalia, where success means you got to live another year. Keep your anarchy, buddy. It's far more insidious than Marxism or communism or whatever you're calling anything other than far-right these days.undercoverjoe wrote: Those of you who cannot live without the government teat, keep on voting this country more socialist.

Still no condemnation of Shuster doing EXACTLY what you accuse Murtha of doing. The press used to have a code word for Shuster vacations in the Caribbean... "fact-finding missions."

I'd love to have a solar-powered camper! A scooter, too. I get what you're saying, but those things appeal to me.lonewolf wrote: If the feds go socialist, you will get a solar powered camper and a scooter.
I know we disagree on solar, but I still think it'd be viable if anybody in upper management gave a f*ck. We went to the moon in a decade, we can figure out how to pay somebody who's not trying to blow us up.

Nobody's advocating anarchy; however, the federal government's purview is limited to specific items listed in the Constitution. Defense is at the top of the list. Interstate highways are also legitimate. Protection for individuals derives from the state laws, not the fed's. As does education, welfare, healthcare and a host of other black hole programs too numerous to mention. Federal taxes are legitimate, but the feds take way, way, way more than necessary because they have taken on too many unconstitutional roles that were intended for the state governments. The amount of taxes we pay our state should exceed the amount we pay the feds.songsmith wrote:Chew on this, if there were no government, that's called anarchy, and it's a pipe dream. Hey, it's a Republican. It's all good.

In case you haven't noticed, Bud The Elder stepped down and is no longer in office--a lesson that should be learned by Murtha and many others. As for Prince William de Flounder. There is no place for a generational stranglehold on a political office an I am annoyed at the situation. Except for I99 (see interstate highways, above) I can't think of much pork delivered by Schuster.
At least the highway that bears Schuster's name actually goes somewhere. Did you ever drive north on I67 (rt.219), the John P. Murtha highway? It goes nowhere.

Actually, I had a passing thought about starting a solar and wind power engineering company. After thinking about it long enough, I decided that it would be a lot more work than I want to bother with. I do intend to take myself "off the grid" sometime in the next few years.songsmith wrote:I know we disagree on solar, but I still think it'd be viable if anybody in upper management gave a f*ck. I spent a lot of time in the 80s designing solar homes and even came up with a solar mobile home design. Of course, back then, nobody and I mean NOBODY wanted to hear about it. Even at 100% efficiency, solar and wind will NEVER work for the power grid, but both are extremely viable on individual properties.
Cold fusion doesn't work. Other electromagnetic fusion research has pretty much been passed off to Europe & Japan with the US as a joint partner. There is too much resistance from the ignorant no-nukes crowd here in the USA.
Fusion requires massive amounts of electricity to contain the reaction. They keep putting off a planned joint construction of a small plant in Japan that will produce 10 times the amount of electricity needed to run itself. This would be a significant achievement in the development of fusion technology.

I used to run a fission reactor, but how would you run a fusion, how do you contain it? with a huge magnetic flux? better question, how do you turn it off? those are just the first things that popped into my head when I read that post, but the potential is exciting. (haha, potential, that's an electrical joke.)lonewolf wrote:Actually, I had a passing thought about starting a solar and wind power engineering company.
