Too old to Rock and Roll????
Too old to Rock and Roll????
When are you too old to rock and roll? We caught Fleetwood Mac in Pittsburgh last weekend. What a show. The band was tight. Stevie looks and sounds great at 60 yrs old. The concert was sold out. I say as long as someone is willing to buy a ticket keep on Rocking.. Deb

I remember a drummer, on a kit, for the Boston Pops when Arthur Fiddler was there. I was in my teens at the time. We (myself and some other drummers and some other musicians) use to laugh at the old guy. Looked funny - bald, perhaps late 50s and kicking ass. Yes, he was good.
And now, (not with the Pops, but in my own way) I'm trying to be him !

I've been playing in various bands since the early 60's, and im still goin
strong with night train. The only time i feel old is when the gig is done and i have to load gear into my truck. My fondest desire is to play a show, say thanks, put my guitar in its stand and keel over. what a way to
go!!!!!

Les Paul is 93 and still plays every Monday night at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City:

I agree that rock and roll is a fountain of youth. Music, arts and media in general keep changing and staying fresh; so people involved with them often don't tire of being involved with them.
Look at the recent passing of Paul Harvey - he was still doing news and commentary 'til near the end; a 70-year career!

Ed Cassidy is world's oldest performing rock drummer and will be 86 years old this May.
Ed "Cass" Cassidy (born Chicago, May 4, 1923) is a drummer who was one of the founders of the rock group Spirit in 1967 but he has a long history of performing and recording with a long list of well known musicians.

It's cool when people peg me for being 10 years younger than I actually am and it happens more than I expect. When I get, "there's no way you're that old," I definitely attribute it to my involvement in music. I'm approaching a "bad birthday" next month but I don't feel anywhere near the age I'm about to turn, except, of course, sometimes at the end of the night.
As long as it feels natural to head out, set up and rock out, I'll be up there doing it.
