RA troops deployed during Alabama shootings

Post by Baceman Spiff »

Regular Army Miliatry Police (not National Guard) were sent into town after the shooting spree in Samson. It seems nobody knows who exactly gave the order.

Anybody else here about this?

Bye the way this is a violation of Federal Law... google "Posse Comitatus"

There was no violation. They just went to a couple of places to see if they can help out and left. Things like guide traffic etc, they weren't going to do the police officers jobs.

We just had a guy wig out in Altoona and Scranton the other day. Shot a couple on their deck while their kids played, stole 2 AK's and 500 rounds, shot up his girlfriend's house here, and when they found him, he had a bunch of pipebombs. Hope the cops had MP-5's, because the army's M-16's are inferior to the AK's. Anyway, I'm far more afraid of retards with firearms than a "police state."--->JMS

i don't know about that... m-16's are manufactured under alot stricter specs... more accurate, less likely to jam, as long as it's not full of sand or mud...

they didn't go in to provide any kind of force, just to help direct traffic and whatnot.... no harm no foul. still kinda weird considering they weren't ordered into the town or whatever...

I have a .22-250 single shot that will kill at over 500 yards. If a gun shoots it's effective. But, you gotta aim. There's a lot of shooting in the area, very little hitting. I guess that's a good thing, maybe.

I wouldn't say an M-16 is inferior to the AK-47,it's a smaller caliber but it is an extremely reliable weapon, the military wouldn't be using them if they weren't up to par. They are also very accurate at long ranges.

Good post and I was very glad to see that some news outlets did pick up on this thread. The US military is PROHIBITED from active work on US soil. It is a violation of Posse Comitatus. We need the military to obey the law. Period. When our military does not obey our laws, Total Chaos will occur.

Ask any 'Nam-era ground-pounder what he thinks of the M-16. They used to take AK's from bad-guys and use them instead. Most of my Vietnam Vet friends will swear allegiance to the M14 as a far more dependable and accurate weapon. I'm not saying the M16 is a terrible gun, but I never hear anyone rave about it. Most spec-ops and a lot of regular troops use the Hechlers now, I think.--->JMS

My dad was an infantry machine-gunner (m60). He loved the 16 until they put a suppressor on it to fire 3 shot bursts. said it made them jam easier.

He said what they use now are junk (hechlers?). I think thats just "the good old days" or "they don't make em like they used to" mentality.

Now the M-60 or the S.A.W. (Squad Automatic Weapon) are bad ass!!! The S.A.W. is a .223(5.56) that just freakin' puts the rounds out in a hurry!!!!! It does between 700-1000 rounds a minute max and around 80-90 sustained if I remember right.- :D

The SAW and BAR are both awesome weapons by anyone's measure. Both are just pure muscle, capable of busting engine blocks and ruining an enemy combatant's day. I can't imagine needing one myself, but they are indeed badass. The sound of a BAR is mean, like a Tommy gun, but an octave lower. :D
I don't know too much about the Hechler & Koch MP5, but I think it's also a .223 round, it's just a more high-tech delivery system.--->JMS

I've had the pleasure of firing both an MP-5K and a .45 Tommy Gun at a firing range in Vegas. That was a bad-ass day... the targets were posters of Saddam and Bin Laden.
... and then the wheel fell off.

The coolest thing I ever fired was a .17HMR with a suppressor. It was at an "undisclosed" location, and owned legally by a federal agent. You really didn't hear the shot, you heard the bullet strike the target. The gun itself was quieter than a BB gun, there was no clunk, it was like, "Ffft. Ffft. Ffft." Little breaths of sound, and little tiny holes in your target. The velocity of that tiny little bullet is what does the damage. Game Wardens use them to put down "downer" deer (albeit without the suppressor), you can have a clip emptied very quickly because there's almost zero recoil and muzzle rise, and the ammo is cheap.
That was an awesome day, the agent had several full-auto weapons there to try. That's where I heard of the Vietnam Vets M14 "fan club," mostly Navy and Marine guys. Carbines ruled the world for a long time.--->JMS
