...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Lotta important "R's" on that list, buddy. I'm all for stopping ALL corporate donations to any political campaign. In fact, I'd cap campaign spending by anyone at a million dollars. What do you need hundred of millions for? For a million bucks, you buy some TV commercials that say what you'd do. Quit spending millions telling me what the other guy is doing wrong, take 30 freaking seconds and tell me what YOU'D do. Of course, they could still interview you on the news shows for free, so you could get in depth, but no more hours and hours worth of attack ads every election.
Cap corporate contributions at one dollar. Your dollar buys the appearance of support for an individual poiltician, instead of your millions actually buying the politician. This would also lessen the effect of lobbyists for corporate special interest groups. Perhaps we could have the interests of the individual at heart again, instead of corporate control over our gov't.--->JMS

There were way more D's on that list. Why would a "moderate" point out the few R's? A "moderate" would be glad that AIG supported both rotten parties. They "got along". Isn't that what moderates want, for us all to get along?
If there was very limited funding for elections, then the major media would be even more powerful in influencing the American sheeple on how to vote. Lets face it, the majority of TV and print news outlets are extremely liberal, a prime example is how they sold their souls for the Messiah. How could a non liberal have a friggin chance on the national level?
Let me tell you I get sick at all the political commercials, but the let the media have all the influence is basically a nuclear option for non-liberals.

Just pointing out that "R's" take lots of money from the bad guys, too. Where's the outrage over that? Is that the deal? I have to gloss over any Republican involvement in this bullshite? You partisans can potshoot me all you like, it doesn't change the inescapable fact that Republicans do EVERYTHING the Dems get accused of in the Neo media. Name anybody you don't like politically, and I will instantly produce their conservative counterpart. For every Bush-basher, there is a Clinton-hater. For every Algore, there is a Deadeye Dick. For every Nancy Pelosi, there is a Denny Hastert. For every Jeremiah Wright, there is a Ted Haggard.
Apparently, the neo's think that you're only non-partisan if you ignore conservative mistakes, and get on with the business of hating the president, like you're supposed to. Sorry. No can do.--->JMS

The difference is that I just posted the list as reported and made no partisan comments either way as I am outraged with all politicians--some more than others. On the other hand, you felt it was necessary to point out that there were R's on the list. Perhaps you believe that Rockpagers have some problem with reading comprehension?songsmith wrote:Just pointing out that "R's" take lots of money from the bad guys, too. Where's the outrage over that? Or was it because 2/3 were D's and your precious Messiah was near the top of the list...right underneath the POS who added (at the behest of the Messiah) the legal clause to the Porkulus Bill that made these AIG bonuses legitimate:

There we go. There's the partisan stuff I expected from you. After awhile, you can see it coming.lonewolf wrote:[On the other hand, you felt it was necessary to point out that there were R's on the list. Perhaps you believe that Rockpagers have some problem with reading comprehension?

I would have to assume that either you're naive and posted the list because you're surprised... or just because you like to troll.
the reason there is more money on the dems is simple...
you don't go to the track and drop your money on the loosing horses... (but it never hurts to hedge your bets on a few other horses)
if you think it's more than that you're a friggin moron.
I pity the fool that thinks corporate scum care about party lines.... they only care about getting the favors from those in charge.

I assure you, Mr. Wolf is not a moron... he's easily one of the smartest guys I know, in ways that count. He just has funny ideas sometimes.JackANSI wrote:I

I'm not surprised at all. Just pointing out where the real problem lies--in DC. Nobody seems to be outraged over the list of both parties in DC taking money from special interests and then overtly rewarding them as with Dodd the Idiot's bonus clause.JackANSI wrote:I would have to assume that either you're naive and posted the list because you're surprised... or just because you like to troll.
Bush the Imbecile got the ball rolling and Moronobama is accelerating us over the cliff.
Its enough to make me miss Bill Clinton's lame duck 2nd term.

Hey. I can't help it if the D's made 8 out of the top 12 or the guy that wrote the bonus clause was at the top of the list. All I did was cut and paste it along with the source. It must have struck a nerve for you to come up with your original response.songsmith wrote:There we go. I would be just as disgusted had it been an imbecile R POS at the top of that list who happened to write the bonus clause.
For me, its open-season on any public official who defies or ignores the US Constitution. Any more, that's just about everybody inside the beltway.

I say let the banks fail. Let the corps that don't run themselves in a responsible manner fail. Let Wall Street fail.
There will be plenty of us here to pick up the pieces.
Whether it is politicians or corporate slime balls the problem of greed is the key.

Hey man, Obama's not MY Messiah, but the fact that someone thinks he is must bother you. See my recent post about the similarities between Reagan and Obama. Reagan was the acknowledged messiah of conservatism. He was a rockstar in his day, and people still blindly follow his teachings. Expect the same with the far left for Obama.
You have to admit one thing, if Obama's ideas work, there'll be no credibility for the far-right anymore. Rush really DOES want Obama to fail, because success would render Rush irrelevant.
That'll never happen. A recovery now would be seized upon as "It was never that bad to begin with." or "We recovered despite the vast socialist conspiracy."
And Rush was rendered irrelevant when America swung to the mid-left over the last year or so.

OOHH! OOHH! (waving arm frantically) I got this one...the Government.RobTheDrummer wrote:I don't know what's worse? AIG giving huge bonuses or the Government being retarded enough to give them money in the first place....

Ok, so the Legislature is trying to recoup this bonus money by creating special high rate tax. The House wants a 90% tax and the Senate version is around 70%. Isn't this a bill of attainder, and therefore unconstitutional? It seems to me, that AIG shouldn't have been given a cent in the first place. If there were too many things tied to AIG, to allow them to fail...and I'll admit, I don't really understand all of what that entails... then why couldn't they have been broken up into smaller pieces? That way the whole thing doesn't collapse together. Sure, some will still fail, but others would survive. A little like what they did to Ma Bel, only for a different reason.
