Animals have been something strongly on my mind lately. I know what I want, and even if I can't find it or afford it, one day, I do have plans of sharing my quarters. I was once a pretty experienced creature keeper, and I one day want to go back to being that. Not necessarily as a job, just as a hobby. Course it may be a good thing to do as a job, but if it comes to that, it comes to that. I digress. But, it begs me the questions...

What animals do all of you currently share your house with?

What sorts of animals, great and small, simple and exotic, have you had?

Any future plans to adopt, buy, or otherwise house, shelter or keep any others?

We have two cat's- Elmo and Zoe and a Brit Spaniel-Britney, who is having puppies any day now. Interested in one? FREE!!!
I've only ever had cats, dogs and birds.

Have had dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish & rodents.
Currently 1 dog, 2 cats 1 rodent. Prefer dogs.

I currently have two parakeets (I lost one to respiratory problems in February since the last time I posted about my pets) and a 10-gallon tank of goldfish, catfish, a loach and a minnow.

In the past I've had dogs, a cat, and a duck. The duck was great, one of the funniest pets I've ever had!

I'll probably stick with small birds and fish for the foreseeable future. I might get another dog someday, but that is long down the road.

Uhhhh.......I helped raise 'Felix' for the 1st 9 years of his life...if that qualifies....finally had enough and moved out! LOL !

i currently have a husky/chow mix. great dog. don't know me? don't walk in my house! he may bite... great dog, but he is getting up there in years. i think he's almost 14, but he's still playful like a 7 or 8 year old dog. after he moves on... i dunno what i may get. sam was pretty well trained when we got him, and he is such a good dog, it'd be hard to replace him with anything else...

I've always had dogs. Except for the time we lived where pets weren't allowed.

I rescued turtles that my (at the time) teen daughter brought home from the ocean. One lived to get very large...and very mean. He would hiss at us. Put a stick in front of him and he would bite it and not let go. Cleaning the 10 gallon sized tank was scary. A local pet shop took it. It looked happy swimming with the other turtles.

Did you ever get baby chicks for Easter when you were a kid ? Well, two of ours lived to be large chickens. I was about 10 years old. I kept them in a walled off section of our basement. One day my dad came home from the Bavarian Hall (slightly staggering as I remember) and decided the chickens needed a walk.

He left them out in the yard. It took about a dozen neighborhood kids to catch them. They were running / flying from yard to yard.

The good ole days.

A farmer who kept chickens for eggs took them off our hands - at least that's what my parents told me.

I used to have a tan Shar-Pei when I was younger, but I haven't had a dog since then, but I want another one when its time for a dog.
I don't even know where I'd find one either....
I thought that I saw them advertised for sale @ the pet store on 764, but I didn't have time to stop, and now I'm kicking myself for it.

i have a red nosed pit-bull named cyrus. he's a 90lb lap dog. really well behaved.

why would you buy a puppy from a puppy mill when there's so many good dogs at the SPCA waiting for a home?

Im not sure what that place is, but I doubt they have Shar-Pei puppies there.

the humane society. Guess I should have used their lettering. I mentioned since you weren't 100 % clear you would only want one particular breed. But still if you really want a Shar Pei, I'd seek out a reliable breeder over getting one from a pet store.

3 Dachshunds... Samantha, Frankie, and Farfel. (Or around here, we call them Peege, Cho-chi, and Lucifarf.)
Really diggin' on the backyard birdfeeder this winter, too. The "regulars" are here a LOT. I watched a hawk hunting songbirds in my neighbor's yard, and something got a rabbit right under the feeder the other morning. Jeez, I'm writing about my birdfeeder. I'm truly an old man.--->JMS

Ha. That sounds like one my brother did as a child...

Throughout my years, I can't remember all the critters and creatures I've owned. When my brother and I were kids (I was like 7 or 8, he was 3 or 4), we had a pair of ducks. Each one "belonged" to one of us. You know, the "Mine!" mentality that kids have

Anyway, one day, being young as he was, he picked his duck up by the neck. He ran through the house, swinging this duck around like that. When he got outside, he sort of slammed it to the ground. My next door neighbor was outside to witness the event, and he noticed. As soon as the duck hit the ground, he looked up at her and said, "Mrs. Thelma, ducky fall down" with a confused expression

We remind him of this little occurence every so often. Fortunately, he's much more calm with animals nowadays... Although some time last year, he did snip my roommate's cat's whiskers down a little... Kids!

I have 2 cats, a big orange tabby named Felix and a small gray tabby named Jabroni. Also, we just got our addition to the family, a purebred Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) pup named Buddy.

And Finally Aptose, a Siamese, who enjoys rolling around in dirt.

No pictures but we have...

Axl, a 135 lb German Shepherd/Husky/Rottweiler mix. He has one blue eye and is a very nice dog...

Buffy and Faith, two little cats (not sure of nationality) that are very loving and suck fun. We put Halloween bowls out last year and they started sleeping in them . We still have Halloween bowls out for the cats to sleep in.

Tera and Willow are our two rats. They are awesome pets, the cats play with them and they and very affectionate after you get past the fact that they are rats....

Vlad is our 16 inch Monitor Lizard. He is mean and aggressive and is not very snugly but my son volunteered time with the animal shelter in Tyrone and Vlad needed a home. Oh well.

I am working on trying to tame the furry birds (squirrels) that frequent our bird feeders cause it would rock to have a squirrel sleeping on the back of the sofa or in a bowl with a cat....

My wife and I always said we were dog people but we wanted pets and decided we didn't have the time to care for a dog or 2. So we have 3 cats.

Small Medium and X-Large

Small is Mia, We've had her since she was a kitten.

Medium is Neko. Our first cat again had her since she was a kitten. She is Bi-polar sometimes.

X-Large is Gus, weighing in at an astonishing 22lbs he's more like a dog than a cat. Comes when he is called and loves attention.

Man Rob...that bad dog picture is funny!...They know they are in trouble the way the ears are back...Cool pic! I had a doberman that went with me everywhere when I was working away. Once I had to leave him home and he was so mad he tore open 2/ 40 lb bags of dog food and I plowed it with the door to get in..LOL

I had 2 black cats from a rescue shelter (one died) one named Pearl (drums) and one named Larz.

One gray cat left by an ex's daughter, a female rottie (Sheba), a freaking worthless "sooner bite your ankle than be petted" Jack Russel (Spike), and would have had a tank full of huge angel fish till my ex-girlfriend wanted this cute little frog which I learned later he'd grown into an Albino-Killer-Frog (that kills fish) who is now in a tank alone and is about 8 years old!..named (Scuba-Steve)

I've never known that to work out. I had a girlfriend once who had an indoor pet squirrel... kinda cool, but still a wild animal. You didn't DARE make any sudden moves, it would absolutely bite you. It was sort of like having a ferret that drank way too much coffee who could climb up your woodwork and dive on you. It could come and go as it pleased, they left the front door open for it. That was the tamest squirrel I ever knew of, and it wasn't so tame you could have kids around it.
Same with a neighbor's raccoon. It was kept mostly on a chain like a dog, which pissed it the f**k off. It would cutely saunter up to you, looking to be petted, then painfully bite you so fast you couldn't react. You always have to bear in mind that these animals are not domesticated, and do not need humans in any way, so they don't like humans for anything more than an easy meal. My dad knew a guy who raised a whitetail deer from bottle-fed stage, I think up in Clearfield County, in the 60's. The damn thing eventually attacked and killed him.
