How has this forum helped you?
I've met a ton of cool people, made new friends, helped myself and others in the past couple of years, since registering here.
I can look at so many of your usernames/avatars and instantly go back to good memories. I remember first getting on here and being intimidated by how knowledgeable, successful, respected some of you are.
Here's a few cool things that RP did for me:
Band Members- Fedup and the side effects found members here and I've made some really great friends not just bandmates.
Shows- I don't know how many shows I got to be a part of because of this place. I just know it was many.
Other bands- Got to see abunch of other bands who use the site for promo purposes. Also got to meet them, make friends share shows, sit in.
Good Times.
Advice- Got some very good advice over the past couple years. Sometimes I wasn't even looking for it. Just reading the threads of others.
But, if I ever have a theory or tech question, I ask here first. How many years of experience do you think are here?
Meeting new people/making new friends/ Getting back in touch with old faces- BDR-Bonsell-Onegunguitar-Eernst-Lonewolf-Ucjoe-Hawk-TornandFrayed-Wax-The Straw brothers-Ben,Chris, and Abe from the Marauders (as well as Ben's wife Christie, Just met her recently), Harlo, Jimi Hatt, Withchic, Joe Klink, Keith Reyn, Andrew (dragankalasa),Ron,JP,NakedTwister,JAngel,Getclosertothemusic
Generation Gap,All the Spirit Lost gang, Rick from aces, Songsmith, The Grimm Dudes, B.Saller,Danette,Bag,Jim Bags,Trucula and all the SOS guys, Guys in Moxie, Rug, Clete from the Plastered Bastards.... shit I could go on forever!!!!
When I started playing out in 97, I was not aware of anything like this. It was a lot harder for me then too. Now,
I have referred so many new musicians to this site. I tell them"just lurk for a few weeks, then sign up if you want". It really is an awesome place!!! I've thrown 2 benefits and I'm helping with a 3rd now, and this place makes it so easy. I like to come here and just bullshit about stuff other than music too. I think some people come here and see us arguing and shit, but they don't realize how close knit the community really is, or they feel like they're on the outside looking in. That's why I tell people to lurk first.....There's a culture here, just like any other community.
Another big thing. It entertains me throughout my workday!
Let's hear it.....

You hit the nail on the head B. I too have met alot of great people on here.I have to admit that when I first joined and started reading post I thought " Man what a bunch of jackasses". But when you get out and met the people, you realize that we just play jackasses on RP. The Page gives us a place to vent frustrations, get advice, tell jokes, bust balls, etc. I wouldn't have it any other way. I think everyone on here has something to offer to the community and my hat is off to you all.

Man, it helped me out a lot, and is still helping me, despite some of the questionable topics.
When I left my first band, I got depressed. Eventually downright hateful, but depressed at the time. A friend of mine at my old job at Wal-Mart, Scott Diehl, told me about this site. THANK YOU SCOTT!
So after laying low for awhile, I decided to post about looking for a vocalist *cough* growl/screaming *cough* position. Enter Condemned Existence. The night before our first show we were at City Limits and I think it was FedUp and House of Cain. I got to meet them all. Awesome guys, still awesome like 3 years later (wow, it's been that long???). Anyway, I also found out that they were part of RP too.
Then, I got to meet some more RP members that are all around music fans, which is totally awesome.
Unlike dirtysanchez, I'm not gonna type out all the names. I should just copy and paste the members section, or set up a link to it...lol. I'm just lazy.
It's a huge catalyst in finding me past and present band mates and buying and selling equipment.
There's always some kind of bullshit going on, whether it's flame wars, people complaining about topics, or whatever; no one can say that this hasn't helped them and know that the core of this site is to be a catalyst.
And although, I don't type too much on hurrr. Believe me when I say when some one asks me questions about the music scene or people to complete a band lineup. "Check out rockpage.com." is the first thing I say.
On that note...I've never clicked on the "Crossfire Radio" and "The Final Cut" links. What will happen? Will my computer crash?
Hmmm....*click*

As a "senior" member of this place, I've seen a lot of things here over the years. As Sanchez said, first and foremost, I've made countless friends through Rockpage, OP included. Regardless of your genre, we're all in the same boat and this resource has made things in this scene a lot different than they used to be, in that just about any kind of help — music related or otherwise — is at your fingertips, so long as you've taken the time to make friends, be a decent person and form bonds.
As stated, this is a community — a microcosm of the real world we live in — it's just a slightly exaggerated version of real life. Brian and I spoke yesterday about this and we agree that "Dirty Sanchez," "BDR" and all the other posters are kinda like characters or something that play their little roles here with everyone else. While it's not reality, it is ... but it isn't. I know, it's hurting my head a little, too.
People need to take some things a lot less seriously.
I think, since the first time we needed to replace a member, Kenny and I have found everyone we've needed to over the years through Rockpage and the relationships we established here. And we've been fortunate to find quality people. I'm almost positive that we would've run into brick walls different times and possibly imploded had it not been for this place.
On another note, it looks like my job situation may be solved soon, thanks again to relationships established right here. I want to thank Sanchez publicly for offering me a job at his office. It means a lot, bro.
One final note: Even if you get into a scuffle with someone on here, try to remember that in real life, everyone gets pissed at others at times, even at those we're closest to. Things blow over if you let them.
Rockpage rocks.

I am glad that this place is here...I've gotten so much help in helping my husband make decisions as far as entertainment options and promotions from this place. I get a lot of great advice from people who are in the bars each weekend and meeting the people who are out and about. You know more about why a person comes out than anyone else.
I've made friends here (even consider Rob a friend even though he's a big idiot at times...and have discovered that he's really a bunch of mushiness). Some, I've never met in person yet but would try to help them in anyway I can ... if I can.
There are some here that I don't like their personality here at all....but isn't that true of life too? I'm sure that there are a few here that don't like me either. I've learned that no everyone has to like me. Its all good.
I ignore many threads. Just don't care to get into it. But there are some very valuable pieces of information that can be found here.

Just as mentioned, this forum has helped me tons! I found my current guitarist on here! Got lots of shows, networked with a lot of people. It's given me an outlet for stress. It's something I look forward to everyday. Not a day goes by without me looking at the old rockpage to see what's going on. This forum has also been very helpful for those in need. We come together and do benefits for people, and have jams. It really is a great thing! Thanks for it all Ron!
Ya, agree with all of the above. Heard about it from Jeff Sabarese, former
Sona/E-Nation guitarist. Have met a lot of cool people through, and ended
up in a couple of bands because of.
AND, most recently found Dusty through here.
As much as I love political discussions, etc., HERE I prefer to come to discuss
the aspects of our "biz", gear, etc.
Much appreciation to J.P., Ron and anyone else of whom I'm not aware for
this thing and what it's given our community...dysfunctional though it can

I haven't met anyone in person on here yet (expect stratobastard27, he lives about 2 miles from me and I've known him for years, the guys from HF1). I have learned a great deal just by paying attention and not ignoring the advice that various members have given out. I do hope to meet some of the other members one day, though.

This place has helped alot. Made some new fans thru the "upcoming events" section, met a few people, and found the person to record our next CD - JD Hicks. Did a FANTASTIC job on the two song Ep we recorded yesterday... SENSATIONAL job....and for little coin.
