I'd say 40-45 songs. Keep learning more and more to keep up with request. I think you would be in pretty good shape. :D

I agree that 40 songs would be a good start. If you play at least three sets, you will need about 12 to 15 songs a set unless your songs are 10 minutes each.

or crazy bitch 35 times a night. people would love it... well... at least at the end of the night, they'd feel like most of us do about that song

naw, like they said, around 40, depending on length and whatnot...

So does mine, lol. This area is like a musical vacuum, any good song has usually been out for about 6 months before anyone around here knows about it. Fortunetly, I tend to stay on top of current releases.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

Kayla...

You'll be surprised at how many songs you'll learn over the years. But if you are booking a show for yourself, you'll need 40-45 songs, plus another 5 for encores or backup songs. Always go out with enough material to play three 45-50 minute sets.

your right, when i think bout it. ive been out and about playing here and there doing like sit in work and the occasional jam night thing for almost three months and ive got at least 10-15 memorized. not too shabby i dont think. i went from following a piano and bass to playin just buy myself and it makes me nervous that i'm gonna screw up - no one there to cover my mistakes - ya know?

Normally, bands to 12 songs a set.

THAT being said...we do about 50...and breaks are quick...and people still
complain... The minute you have 35 or so songs, get out and playing. I'd
rather be playing the minimum in front of people than worrying about being
one song short at practice.

Our last show was St. Pat's wknd...our next...due to someone's F-UP,...is
going to be Apr. 17th... Feel so freakin' antsy I can't begin to tell you.
