Fishing.
Fishing.
I'm ready.
So, where's everybody going? I still haven't learned to fly-fish, a goal of mine, and didn't get my trout stamp, but I'm considering it. I'll be in Florida next week, and I'd like to do some surf-fishing there, I'll let you all know how it goes.
I can't wait... another month or so, and the smallies wake up enough for me to catch 'em!--->JMS

Got my stamp!, went down to perry county last weekend on big buffulo creek, but it rained like a bitch the whole way down and the creek was high and muddy and didn't make for good fishin' good party though, we cooked a monster kettle of chicken corn soup over a fire, catchin some buzzes and listening to tunes. it was a pretty good time. don't know what i'm gonna do for first day here, no plans really.songsmith wrote:I'm ready.

I still need to get my license and trout stamp; probably will do so this week.
I typically don't go out on the first day of trout because of the crowds. I might be out the second day, though, and due to my changed work schedule, I expect to be out and hitting the lakes and rivers much more frequently this year.
If I make it to the Outer Banks this summer, I plan to use a day to fish off the Avalon pier.

You know, witch, I was specifically waiting for you to say that!witchhunt wrote:Do you like fishsticks?

JP, your job status means you'll have time to kayak on the weekends... Crystal and I go every single weekend, and we have an extra kayak. I showed them smallmouth bass what-fer last year, banner year, and I expect the same this year if we get adequate rain.
As for trout fishing, I have my father-in-laws gear, he's pretty much completely blind now, and can't use it. It's all vintage stuff, but he assures me it's pretty good. I'd like to be able to tell him I used it before he passes on. I just have to learn what I'm doing, so I don't mess it up.--->JMS

I've been out on the little J about 5 times so far catching browns and even a few smallies on wooly buggers. Stocked trout are a blast. When else can you have 100+ fish days? I just got a new canoe, so I'm down for Raystown branch float trip/BBQ. Let's do it this summer!!!

I just go to my chiropractor's farm pond...it's huge, filled with bluegills and some nice largemouth (a 4 and 5 pounder I've caught there).

Sweeeeeet. I love farm ponds, they warm up faster, and you can catch fish much earlier. Plus, if it's kinda remote, they don't get fed by people, so they're ALWAYS hungry. You toss practically anything in the water, and they EXPLODE on it. I love that shyte. I fished a pond near Carrolltown once, chockful of 4-pounders just aching to bite something... what a great day of fishing, I wish there had been a kid there to help catch fish, they'd have been hooked on fishing for life.---->JMS
