And as someone who's been paid to play since 1984 (that's a quarter-century, beetches

), respect is earned, not gifted or assumed. Constantly, unflinchingly... earned. There's a vibrant music scene here for such a small population, has been for decades, and if you step away for even a short time, it's like starting over. We earn everything.
I've played all over the East, and I can heartily assure you: The dues we pay here, are valid anywhere.
