I wonder if they could imagine that I grew up with a black and white TV, with no remote control and only 3 channels. You had to move the rabbit ears around differently for each of the 3 channels and often had to put aluminum foil on them to get semi decent reception.

Oh, we also had a party line phone. All of our neighbors shared one telephone line, and when you got a call, you neighbors could listen in.

i know what you mean... when i was growing up we had like 13 channels, and our phone had a chord on it. wht a bunch of malarkey, right?

Did you ever see one of those complimentary dialing "prongs" that insurance companies, gas stations, etc. gave away? It was a 2-3 inch prong, about as think as your little finger with a ball on the end. You stuck it in the hole on the rotary to dial with. "Phew", that was a lot easier than using your actual finger.

Those were originally the property of AT&T and you had to rent them (like cable boxes now) and nobody could buy their own phone until AT&T was broken up in 1984. Even then, most people continued to rent them because they were leery about owning their own phone.
