Funny. I didn't see any health care reform mentioned--just a lot of taxes, mandates and freebies.
No tort reform. No repeal of outdated anti-trust laws for hospitals. No mention of a universal medical database system. No interstate health insurance plans to foster competition. No cost-saving plans for prescriptions. Nothing anywhere near my idea to change prescription drug patent laws which would probably save trillions of dollars and enhance millions of people's lives.
Turn on the TV and every 5 minutes you see an ad for drug treatments for every flippin' thing you can think of.
When was the last time you heard about a new cure for something?
I can't remember any, and why not? When they sell a treatment to somebody, they generally have a customer for life. When they sell a cure to somebody, they lose a customer. This sounds dubious, but its the bottom line folks.
Why would a drug company want to spend billions of dollars to develop a cure whose patent will run out in a few years when treatments generate a much better cash flow?
Change the pharmaceutical patent laws so that there are 2 basic kinds of patents with a huge difference in length of patent:
Treatments -- 5 years
Cures -- 95 years
This would encourage development of cures rather than treatments and lead to a significant decrease in script demand, not to mention a lot of happy, cured people.
Only moron politicians could come up with a "cost-savings" plan that involved spending a lot more money.

I guess I'll be seeing more taxes. I'm considered "wealthy" for having a job, and working more than 20hrs a week...and taxes the wealthy to help cover costs.
Wow!!! A politician straight-on telling what politics are all about! Kudos to this man for saying this!!!Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Missouri, said the bill "without any question will kill jobs, will limit access to health care, will raise taxes and will lead to a government takeover of health care."
Actually, being who and what I am where I am, I seriously hope this one takes effect! Well,... Long as I don't have to pay any more for it than what I already do. HehRequirement that businesses with payrolls exceeding $250,000 provide their employees with health coverage or contribute up to 8 percent of their payroll on their behalf.
I seriously hope they do something right for the US citizen for a change. I think we're long overdue for a break from the tax rape and finaicial desecration this government does. However, I'm very realistic that any time the government takes something of this magnitude with as much money and necessity riding in it as this, the government will screw up, and we'll be the ones who pay for their mistake
Does anybody have any lube? The gov't is at it again...

Won't find any disagreement here.
But the hospitals and insurance companies brought it on themselves by charging insane amounts of money for IV tubes, needles, and asprin.
With the way things are going and have gone, the only people who will be able to afford surgery or a trip to the doctor for the kids are the ones that go to another country to get the care they need.
Edit: Went back to my most recent trip to the ER for sawdust in the eye. $1,191 for 45 minutes in the ER, a Q-tip, eye drops, and probably a few sheets of paper to write it all down on. If you think thats a perfectly logical sum for the time and materials... I don't know what to say...

Next time I have anything wrong with me Im just gonna let it go. Fuck it right. Why spend all that fucking money when we are all gonna die eventually anyways!JackANSI wrote:Won't find any disagreement here.

Don't have Q-tips & eye drops at home or at work? Make a wiser consumer choice and call your family doctor or an opthalmologist--they'll probably charge you less than $100. If they are worth their salt, they will see you right away.JackANSI wrote:Edit: Went back to my most recent trip to the ER for sawdust in the eye. $1,191 for 45 minutes in the ER, a Q-tip, eye drops, and probably a few sheets of paper to write it all down on. But if you must go to the ER for sawdust in the eye, go to Nason Hospital. I recently saw an ER bill for a sprained wrist with dressing & painkiller...it was $275. A real doctor determined it was sprained and not broken.
Unnecessary ER usage and bad consumer choice are a few of the biggest cost-drivers in the system...its part of what's broken.

Your family doctor can take care of stuff like that for under $100.UNEARTHA7XMatt wrote:I went into the ER about a month ago for a cyst on my ear. 2845 dollars for a half an hour. Its rediculous. All I'm saying is, they did it to themselves. Instead of coming across as helpful, they priced themselves into the easy 'enemy' role. Prime target for the government in these times.
I'm all for healthcare for the rich only. Would get rid of a lot of anti-gun-control freaks and worthless religious-point-only voters.

huh, i cant even afford to fix the head gasket in my car and they wanna take more money from my paycheck to support people who are too lazy to support themselves.
We have the worst health care system in the world and yet they can think of ways to make it worse.
I hate fridays, pay day. The reason being is that I open my paycheck and i look only to find that I am paying for more and more people to live in government housing, more people getting free health care because they have some "medical problems" and can't do labor. Its called a desk job, take your free power wheelchair that you got from your access card and roll it up to a fucking desk and make a productive citizen out of yourself. Being in the line of work I am in, I see people that seem perfectly healthy that take advantage of our poverty systems. I work a 40 hour or more week to make sure the people i deliver to can sit around and do absolutely nothing. Mind you, there are people out there who need it, im not saying that there arent, there are people that are physically or mentally disabled and can't do a damn thing about it.
I think that the government should take this trillion dollars and invest it in the working man. For instance, I was laid up from work for damn close to 2 months. I tried every avenue i could to get help with bills and money for things i needed. I made 0 Dollars for 2 months, and all the while my child support is racking up (until domestic relations got it stopped, which happened one week before i went back to work), my car payment got 2 months behind, I couldn't afford to get food for myself because being a diabetic in a family full of people who arent is pretty hard, especially when you gotta ask other people to fund you. I got my cell phone backed up to 370 dollars and got it shut off, and thats the only phone i have. I had my car insurance backed up to the point they almost shut it off (can't let that lapse or thats more you have to pay for insurance). And there was no help available, there was no short term disability i could get, i couldnt get cash assistance, and i couldnt get food stamps. NOTHING. I got a good opportunity to sit back and watch everything pile up on me, and i am far from recovering from it.
They should make an quick assistance plan for someone who needs the help temporarily, and I think with the welfare plan they should make it a 6 month plan like unemployment, and after 6 months if you are still too lazy to find something, then you are just as fucked as that guy that got fired from his job. This should be the way it is, unless there is a viable reason that you cannot work, a permanent disability or handicap that prevents you from doing any kind of job.
This is the first time that I have ever really written a Paul Rainey sized book on rockpage, but thinking about the welfare system and all the lazy fucking assholes that take advantage of it pisses me off and makes me want to talk.

I'm lazy and like free money. I could never suck off of the system though.
There are generations of career welfare recipients. It's bullshit.
Ken,
I feel you man. Just keep your head up, and do what you can. My wife got pregnant and then we found out she had lupus anticoagulant and Diabetes. Still recovering from that, because on top of all the bills, we lost 30,000 in income because she had to take a different job. No help to be found either...... fuck'em!

That is my biggest issue. If you are too lazy to work for it, then you don't deserve it. Obama feels that government should support everyone; put the whole country on welfare that will fix everything. He supports the lazy and nobodies ... I am still waiting for him to institute a welfare czar. Maybe he can appoint some fat trailer park lady who has ten kids and brings in about 600 a month in food stamps and 5000.00 a month from having her kids on some sort of fake disability - You know the my kid has a disability, I don't know what it is but he does, so I should be paid for it. What a bunch of BS ...

I totally agree here. My children dont have any disabilities thank god but if they did then they should get paid for it. i Think that these people should be monitored by the state and federal government and have a close eye on them to see if they REALLY do have disabilities but all that would do is cost even more money to pay the person monitoring them~!f.sciarrillo wrote:That is my biggest issue. Narrator: For the low price of every-penny-you-got-and-ever-will-have, you can enjoy the rest of your life knowing you won't die from YYZ-2112. Face it, you're going to die either way before the patent expires and when your child gets the virus too, we'll still own it...
