I know someone who did the same thing to the State College Parking Authority. (a.k.a "lot vultures"). They initially refused the payment (it states "no loose change" on their tickets) but he stood by his guns, called his lawyer and they eventually took the money. It cost him more than the tickets cost to have his lawyer contact them, but he said it was worth it just to see them give in.

My fav in S.C. was old Herlocher giving out private parking tickets for parking at his meters at the bar around the corner from the Crow Bar. If you looked at the fine print on the ticket, it was issued by the laundromat. Heh, heh, heh, like we were actually going to pay them. I used to collect them and had about 50.

The last time I was there, it was called Taps, but he changed the name every 3 years, so its probably something else.

Pretty funny stuff, but did it really take three cops to enforce that?

I'd hate to hear that there was an armed robbery in progress that could have been stopped if it weren't for 3/4s of the police force getting a tow company to accept pennies.

I've actually done that before. I got a parking ticket in Hollidaysburg. They give you a little brown envelope to pay the ticket with. I stuffed that thing with a couple bucks and the rest were pennies. Probably a few dollars in pennies, I can't really remember how much it was. All I know is that the envelope was pretty fat and heavy. They took it.

So let me get this straight.... Spoiled, self-centered little frat boy prick parks his car where he shouldn't, it gets towed, so he thinks it's funny and ok to inconvenience the poor woman behind the counter who now has to count his 8800 pennies. And poor him, his walk home "wasn't fun" -- awwww... poor baby - maybe next time you won't park it in a tow away zone, jackass.

It was legal tender, and the frat kid had to count it first.

To a point, he has the right to pay in pennies, even if it was 8800 pennies...

To this day, there is no law anywhere stating "If paying in coins, they must be rolled". Why invent "pennies" as legal tender, if you cant use it?

"We all have a right to pay using any type of US money that we have on hand". Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc. Its all US money, therefore, every bit of it, is legal to use.

That towing company had no sign anywhere or print anywhere that stated, "We do not accept pennies as payment."

And did you catch that one little part in there that the "counter person" stated when he said, "Where in the law does it say it has to be rolled."
She then said, "Im making the law".

When did she become the president and/or congress, and can make up her own laws?
