I want to see this. At least going by the trailers and reviews I've read, this looks like a movie I'd be into.

Even the guys on the ESP Guitars forum that hate everything liked this movie. Must be pretty good.

Easily the best film this year and, honestly, bound to be a sci-fi classic. I would go see it again...it has everything: great story, great acting, character development, and action. District 9 is actually based on a six minute low-budget short film, done by the same director, called "Alive in Joberg." The film is a promo for a non-existent documentary about tensions between humans and alien refugees....you can watch it here:

The footage of the rioting crowds and slums is actually all real. The footage was taken from real news feeds from third world countries and then the aliens and such were digitally added. The movie was made for $30,000,000 making it a "low budget" film compared to other blockbuster movies.
