I agree, the MJ passing has been dwelled upon too much by the news media.
Consider that without Les Paul's innovations, some of MJ's hits might have sounded way different. Yet we barely heard about Les Paul's passing in the media, but we still hear every minute thing in the aftermath of MJ's demise.
And the week of MJ's funeral, other news stories included the civil unrest in Iran following their elections, and North Korea's leader sounding off with more nuclear threats. But the top story was still MJ, the memorial service, and everything else surrounding his death.
Again, this will make a good topic when I discuss news ethics with my class later this fall...

Heck,he hasn't even been buried yet.
"The long, strange trip of Michael Jackson's remains may soon be coming to an end.
Joe Jackson, Michael's father, tells People that the King of Pop will be buried in Forest Lawn Cemetary in Los Angeles on August 29, on what would have been his 51st birthday.
Jackson, 80, told People that the arrangements had been finalized only recently, and that the ceremony will not be open to the public."

...and then that's when the "sightings" will start. Look at how long after Elvis died that people started spotting the King EVERYWHERE!! I think he even knocked a few broads up in the 80's...f.sciarrillo wrote:I am waiting for the grand opening of neverland ... I guess they are going to turn it into a tourist destination. I think I would rather go to Graceland ..

it is truely sad, i agree with jim about les paul. both men contributed alot to the music community. i think we only here more about mj only cause of all the crap that surrounded his life, and more often that over shadows his musical achievements. as for les paul i hope he is jammin on his guitar in the great big studio in the sky! may he rest in piece!
