Perhaps, but I see a big difference in shit-slinging or bitching and constructive discussion that, while still may end up with people agreeing to disagree, doesn't insult the intellect.

That is a true statement in a whole. Which is why I don't insult people in expressing my views. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.bassist_25 wrote:Perhaps, but I see a big difference in shit-slinging or bitching and constructive discussion that, while still may end up with people agreeing to disagree, doesn't insult the intellect.

Let me tell you something Libby, Libby, with our heads on the table .... this is a government that is sending this country straight to hell!!! With a health care bill that will allow the government to take total control over what type of health care we have. This is the same government that is smiling at our enemies and "saying we can work this out ... peacefully."
This is the same government that is telling Conservative talk show hosts that they could be taken off the air because they are anti-government. Pathetic, I dont think so. We are just parents of children who will have to try to fix the problems of this current government when they are adults. We are to protect our children and if that means telling them that our president while he may be black and in the history books forever is the same man who will tell them what they can learn and what they cannot learn. I am sorry I just dont see how that is pathetic.
Yes I said PATHETIC. Anyone who's sky is constantly falling down because the president isn't doing what they woud do is .........here it is again.........PATHETIC. I think it is freakin funny that all you crybabies are pissin and moanin about shit when your life hasn't and probably will not change a bit. When the pres starts killing people for no damn good reason, then maybe I'll be a little more sympathetic, until then I'll say you're a pathetic crybaby.

It isn't so much the speech, if it was just that then I wouldn't mind so much. It is that coherence they have at the end of the speech.DirtySanchez wrote:Regardless of how you feel about the president, why would you shelter your kids from something? Let them experience as much as possible and form their own opinions.

Coherence or conference? I don't really have any problems with the president giving a speech to encourage our youth to do well in school. I think it's a great idea. As long as it is non-partisan, it should be fine.
It's being blown out of proportion.

The other presidents didn't have a little test at the end of it asking the students all kinds of socialist questions. That is the difference. I don't have a problem with him telling the kids to do good in school either. But when you start to include things like: "How can I help the President?, and what three points were the most spoken and why?" There is a reason why a lot of schools in this country are refusing to air it. It is not no-partisan at all ...
hick, I was referring to the test type setting at the end of it .. I guess you could call it both ...

It really depends on what he is going to say, Hawk. Obama could very easily undermine the values that many American families hold dear. When you have a captive audience like ALL of America's school children, you have to be very respectful of family values.
Remember Hitler's youth. That is the image this speech conjures up for many people. When political leaders address youth in masses, it is seldom if ever without some hidden motive. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I like the idea of having our president offer encouragement to our nation's students.
Thanks for clarifying. Also, It's Hicks with an s.

I was in elementry school and watching live on television when Bud Dwyer blew his head off for the whole world to see. When Bill Clinton was brought up on impeachment charges you can bet your ass that was being shown in civics classrooms all over the country. Many had to sit in a classroom that was locked down and watch the horrific events of Sept. 11.
How can Obama's speech to the youth of this country be any worse than any of those events??? Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican the world we live in right now quite frankly blows. I'll put it out in the open...I voted for Obama. Some days I wonder why I did. But I firmly believe that no matter who assumed the office of president this country was NOT handed to them on a silver platter. I feel for those of you trying to raise a family. I really do. I do not have any kids, I am not married, and I can barely scrape by. But I really think that not sending your kids to school over a presidential speech aimed towards the children of the U.S. is rather silly....

Videos destroyed the vitality of rock and roll. Before that, music said, "Listen to me." Now it says, "Look at me."
