The Story of Anvil will be on VH1 Oct. 3rd at 10:00 p.m.

This is supposed to be one of the best rock documentray movies about a band.

In the summer of 1984, the band Anvil toured with some of the world's hottest acts land while many of those bands are legends, Anvil is just the opposite. While fame eluded them, Anvil never stopped rocking. Childhood friends Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner, both fiftysomething, are still toiling away at their dream, trying to make Anvil one of the world's biggest bands. "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" has been one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2009. Filmmaker Michael Moore praised it as "the best documentary I've seen in years." Anthony Lane of the New Yorker called it "the most stirring release of the year." The London Times calls it "possibly the greatest film yet made about rock and roll." And the New York Times' Anthony Scott declares the film's success "lies in its ability to make you care about an enterprise you might initially have been inclined to laugh at." The film follows the present day lives of Lipps and Robb, who have boring jobs as a cook and construction worker by day but rock out for a few dedicated fans in small Toronto venues at night. They dream of recording a new album that will help reenergize their static career when a passionate fan helps them book a European tour. Their heartbreaking journey in pursuit of passion speaks volumes on friendship, aspiration and resolve. The film contains appearances by many musical icons: Lars Ulrich, Slash, Lemmy Scott Ian and Tom Araya among others. "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" is the directorial debut of screenwriter Sacha Gervasi ("The Terminal") and was produced by Rebecca Yeldham ("The Kite Runner" and "The Motorcycle Diaries"). Cinematography by Chris Soos, editing by Jeff Renfroe and Andrew Dickler, and music supervision by Dana Sano.
