does anybody know of anywhere..

Post by EyesOfAnguishbassist »

I could work as a temp from November 1st until January 6th? I saved up a whole bunch of money before I quit my job to tour (I worked there from the time I graduated High School until this June, just under 3 years) but we're not doing anything in that time frame so it would be nice to work while I could. I'm a real good worker, anyone can ask my last employer, gave them 3 weeks notice before quitting and I never missed work. I didn't know of any of you have been in this position and knew of something I could do as far as work to make some extra money. I live with my parents in the Southern Huntingdon area, but my girlfriend lives in the St Marys area and my band is from Punxsutawney so I can locate to any of these places to work for that time frame, shifts do not matter, and I have transportation, just want to make some cash, I know jobs are hard to come by with the economy the way it is but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, even a part time job will suffice. Thanks for any info guys! :D

if you apply early enough i know a lot of seasonal jobs will open up at the mall and such. For a lot of factories thats mostly a down time.

I wouldn't tell any potential employers that you only want to work for a month. They won't want to waste their time training you. Since your GF is 3 hours away, I'd suggest man-whoring.

i dunno man...maybe try a temp agency. you can find some work and there's really no strings attached. they probably take a cut of what you make though.

Quite the contrary Bag, most retail companies, stores, whatever you wanna say, are going to start hiring on a lot of temp workers to work between now and over the holidays. In fact, a lot of them may find that time frame rather perfect for their need for a few extra workers. Retail right now would be what to do if you're looking for a fall-to-holidays job. Course, retail sucks, but still... A job is a job

EOAB,

If you can make it up from Shade Gap 2 Altoona and aren't afraid of a hard day's work, try LaborReady. They specialize in construction based temp work, and you get paid daily. They do take a small cut, but you get a good check every day. You'll get extra $$ for driving yourself, too. Be sure and have steel toed workboots, though, as they are required. I went there when I lost my job a few years back, and got treated decently and made some decent cake.

Or you could sell drugs for DrumAndDestroy, LOL.

Yeah I wanted to find somewhere and not tell them but I really hate to leave on bad terms, plus if I could leave on good terms I thought it would be nice to have somewhere to maybe go back to, although I know it will be really hard to find a job that will hire me for that short period of time, so I may not tell them, I'm not sure yet, I still have a month, thats why I asked so I can weigh out my options.

How do I find these temp agencies, just go to CareerLink? Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!

Yeah retail sucks but since its only for a short time I will take pretty much anything, Dubois Mall isn't far from my woman's house, and Chambersburg is kinda close to Shade Gap, I may have to look into this too.

Come work for me.
You'd have to be able to start this tuesday tho, cuz I'm leaving for vacation on 10/12 and need you trained before then.
Check your pm's.

EOAB,

Here's the info you'll need:

Labor Ready
1101 13th Aveue
Altoona
(814) 949-9675

You'll need to bring a pen, you'll have to sign some paperwork and do some quick safety training. It's normally an EARLY day, as they will ask you to be there at about 4AM for work assignments. At first, it's first come, first served. Some of the other workers can be...interesting. But I got hooked up with a good temp job there, and it helped me through my financial crunch. The jobs are everything from cleaning to factory labor to construction. I lucked out and worked for a company called B&R Construction based in Portage. They pour foundations for new housing all over the state. I worked in Pittsburgh for 3 days straight, and put in 40 hours in those 3 days. I was beat, but it was good work. Good luck to ya, bro, and make sure to contact Sanchez, too. Don't tell anybody, but he really is good people.
