Flying the American Flag - Very cool
You have never seen anything like this before and you won't see the American flag wave like this again.
This is spectacular -- it doesn't get better than this...

I'm pretty cool with it overall. We had an election to correct our course, despite some crybabies' denials, and everybody knew it would take awhile to get us out of the mud of the past administration. It's not going as quick as I'd like, but it's going. The rhetoric coming from the opposition party is quite feverish, signaling their desperation at falling out of favor, and other than immediate job numbers, the economy is looking up a little. My personal America is a pretty good place. My own economic downturn ended last October, when I saw things were getting tough, and I took another job. I work 60 hours a week often, but on the flipside, I have more money available to me now than ever. As long as energy costs stay reasonable, I'm farting through silk.

That was cool. I am wondering if the ACLU might have something to say about it, though? I mean think of the people that would offend. Especially the illegal aliens we support.

I'm neither proud nor ashamed of having the disposition of being born in a particular geographic location. It's not something for which I had a choice. The same way, I'm neither proud nor ashamed of my direct ancestors. I define my own life and own reality. Discussions about being proud to be an America seem moot to me, because if this were Croatia, we'd probably be talking about how we're proud to be Croatian (or insert any other country).
However, my experience of being an American has been, for the most part, positive. Would I rather live in a different country? I don't know. This is the only country in which I've ever lived. Though, "on paper," Europe would probably be a better place for me, career-wise. I have too much of an important tie here right now, though, to jump the pond.
Damn it, I've been hornswaggled by my own opinions into a political discussion.

Almost 10% unemployment
17% underemployment, folks so unemployed that they can't collect any more
52% unemployment for youth ( under 18, highest since the Depression )

$11 TRILLION debt
B. Hussein talking about another "stimulus" (read "porkulus")
No increased domestic oil drilling, so continued slavery to Middle East
Arabs, Russia and China don't want to trade oil in dollars any more

How can we increase employment when so many industries left during the Bush administration ? I mean, they're not coming back . (low labor and slave labor)undercoverjoe wrote:songsmith wrote: the economy is looking up a little.![]()

The dollar value has been plummeting for decades. Obama had a choice, let the banks collapse an have a great depression, or print more money (devalue the dollar even more) and save the banks and Wall Street.
The greatest amount of the debt was created by Reaganomics. By Reagan Bush and W. Cut taxes and spend like hell. Some conservatives huh ?
There are drilled yet unused wells in the US already. The Big Oil companies get our oil, not us. It is added to the world market.
It was during the Bush administration that the oil countries first met in Brazil and began talks of basing oil on another currency. Perhaps even a new currency of their own design.
How much debt to China did we incur under Bush ? How many industries left the US under Bush ? And you'd like Obama to fix that in months ?
And yes. It looks better than it did in the beginning of '09. Things are looking up. From near depression to our current recession to things are getting better. Just won't happen in 8, 10 or 12 months.
Sorry Joe, you are right. The economic crisis at the end of the W administration was Obama's fault.undercoverjoe wrote:Hawk, in 8 years, will you stop blaming someone else. My head hurts when I read your drivel. Koolaid must be tasty tonight.
The fact that the Iraq war was started (spending your money) was Obama's fault.
Obama should have straightened out the economy in three to four days.
The Reagan, Bush and W deficits are Obama's fault.
Thanks for straighting me out.

Unemployment IS near 10%... and frankly, with factors like outsourcing and the massive corruption of Big Business, I'm surprised it's not FAR higher. (your other "figures" are bullshit, Fox-math, so there's no point addressing them)
And "no increase in domestic drilling, so continued slavery to the middle east?" How about, "conservatives fighting alternative energy at every front, so continued slavery to the middle east?" Or "conservatives giving multi-billion-dollar tax breaks to Big Oil, so continued slavery in the middle east?" Or even, "oil companies not tapping existing wells until the profit margin is juuussst riiiigghht, so continued slavery to the middle east?"
Fox just has you whipped, is all. They need YOU to be afraid, YOU are their power. Without your fear, angst, and self-righteousness, they'd swing the same political weight as the Golf Channel.
But the backlash is building.
Everybody in the left AND IN THE MIDDLE remembers who got us into the financial crisis. We remember who started a war in the wrong country. We remember who called who unpatriotic and immoral. We remember who elected the people who got us here, and we un-elected those people (that's called working the system, and we can do it at will).
Take this back to your crybaby conservative friends: You can form a Tea-Party event in my front yard, carry guns, recite the Constitution ad infinitum, wrap yourselves in American Flags and pat yourselves on the back for it for months on end, BUT
You will have no more authority over me than than you did yesterday,
AND,
You and I will have the same exact amount of authority over everyone else: one opinion, one vote.
And when I vote, my main intent is to cancel YOUR vote.

If Clinton would have been more endowed to getting a terrorist who attacked us multiple times while on his watch, we wouldn't have had 9/11 - which in turn could possibly not have had Iraq and now Afghanistan. Of course we all know what he was most interested in.Hawk wrote:Clinton had a budget surplus, which Bush promptly spent. That's a fact. Some Ronald Reagan quotes:
'The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'
'I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.' -
'The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination.'
'Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.'
'The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program.'
'It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession.. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.'
'Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it'
'Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed, there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself, you can always write a book.'

O god o spin, get your tissues ready. 2010 will see many liberal Democrats voted out of office and 2012 will see the Fascist in Charge put out to pasture. No one is buying your spin anymore. My friends and I will cite the Constitution and carry guns on our way to vote authoritarian fascists like you out.songsmith wrote:Joey, he stole your lunch again.undercoverjoe wrote:Hawk, in 8 years, will you stop blaming someone else. You and your friends are Libertarians. Didn't all parties outside the top two get like 7% of the vote COMBINED?undercoverjoe wrote:O god o spin, get your tissues ready. 2010 will see many liberal Democrats voted out of office and 2012 will see the Fascist in Charge put out to pasture. Even if it was double that, or triple, you'd still lose. The conservative movement fractured in the last go-round. Reaganism took a huge beating as it was associated to George Bush, and anything associated to Bush43 was "let go." There is a grassroots Tear-Party thing, but when they all got together last month, they couldn't decide on what specifically to protest, and instead, it was a bunch of white noise. Misspelled signs about everything from taxes to healthcare to immigration to socialism, etc. and as of today, it achieved nothing more than to self-validate.
Conservatism is too factionalized. Plus Karl Rove can't have as much of a hand in things this time. He can still do things like steal the other candidate's letterhead and make up invitations to hooker-parties, but the whole world's onto him this time.
All you have is talk-radio and cable TV. Guys like you don't even have the internet anymore.

It's too early to rewrite that history, Bill. Obama wasn't even elected yet when they appropriated the money for the bank bailouts.Hawk wrote:Obama had a choice, let the banks collapse an have a great depression, or print more money (devalue the dollar even more) and save the banks and Wall Street.
