Why is it that...

...if you pick up a moth by the wings it fucks them up and they have a hard time flying. Someone once told me if you rub the powdery substance off of their wings, that's what happens. Then how can a moth fly around an exterior light in a torrential downpour with, seemingly no effect?

The oils in your skin and the roughness from your fingers is enough to
rub off the scales (That's what the "dust" that comes off actually is).

Water just runs off of them.

Wow, too many nights I lay awake thinking about this...I didn't realize that if we just asked Dave, he would be able to save me all those sleepless nights. Maybe we need a Dear Dave thread
