Do certain songs/albums take you back to a certain time?

As I was cruising to Chambersburg today to my tattoo appointment and listening to the Deftones "Adrenaline" I realized that this was the album that was playing when I lost my virginity :lol: .

Alot of songs and albums take me back to a certin point in my life, when I listen to Remembering Never's "God Save us" it takes me back to right around the time I graduated high school since that was the album I mainly listened to. Every time I listen to August Burns Reds "Messengers" it reminds me of when I was working at the Easter Grass Factory :lol: and every time I listen to Poison it reminds me of when I was 5 and wishing I was CC Deville haha.

I think its really neat how songs can take you back to a certain point in your life, and I hope that some of the things I'm listening to now will do the same when I'm older. So let me hear what songs take you back to important parts of your life.

It happens to me all the time....it's awesome.

Anytime I hear something off the "Tres Hombres" album by ZZ Top, I remember hanging with my friends in college, 1973. One friend walks in with this new album and we put it on the turntable. We had never heard anything combing that blues with such a gritty, guttural guitar tone. That album brings me back to my friends apartment, partying with great friends and listening to that album over and over.

Any Dokken CD reminds me of when I first got my driver's license. Cruising around, hanging with a friend who I used to jam with, no cares in the world.

When I hear Toto's "Turn Back" album, I think of 1982, driving alone in my '62 Ford Falcon with it cranked on the Kraco into home stereo speakers in the rear window. Triumph's "Just A Game" album was on the other side of the cassette, and has a similar effect when I hear it now.

The Beatles make me think of an old girlfriend who used to sit at the piano and play for me.

Old Kiss, especially "Alive II" and "Destroyer" take me back to winter 1977, hanging out at friends' houses, listening to 8-tracks on a GE portable. I'm a freshman again, somehow.

Judas Priest's "Electric Eye/The Hellion" puts me front-row-center at City Island in Harrisburg... Iron Maiden had just finished their opening set (Number of the Beast Tour, first major US tour), and Priest hit those opening power-chords. I literally shivered from it. I felt electrified, I felt like I was plugged in and powered up. I don't think I exhaled for the next hour-plus. It was power and glory, and the PA was so loud I thought I'd go cross-eyed. I still see that show ( my second concert ever) as the best one... Maiden and Priest at the peak of their creative outputs. You young dudes don't know what you missed.--->JMS

Yep, there are a lot of albums that do that for me. Which is why I still listen to them today ...

All kindsa songs and albums...

Alice Cooper reminds me of school days, listening to music and having good times. 311 reminds me of a bunch of my friends from those days. Weezer's Buddy Holly brings back memories of an old g/f (seeing as it was our first time together :lol: ), and actually, a few Marilyn Manson songs remind me of her as well, she's STILL in love with his music. Bush and The Cure remind me of my best friend Sue, and some of the fun times we shared. Arch Enemy likewise reminds me of my friend Jessica. Metallica does the same for a few other people, depending on the song, with Mama Said specifically driving me back to my first band, and jamming with em. The Offspring's The Kids Aren't Alright was my first song on guitar, so that reminds me of times learning, as well as playing with my second band. Jack Off Jill reminds me of my friends Angela, and Tia, as Angela got me into them and I know Tia listens to them as well. So many other songs that translate into good times for me...

There're other songs on the not so good side that do the same too though... Some Pantera/AiC songs take me back to a bad point from last year, by example

Being a musician and having music in the soul, it's really so very easy to take any song, band, or album and cross-reference/associate it with a time you heard or listened to it often. It's such a beautiful thing. Course it also causes songs to get into my head easily... Heh
