Doobie Brothers @ Jaffa Mosque last night

Post by moxham123 »

I saw The Doobie Brothers at the Jaffa Mosque last night. They sure put on a tight, professional show with extremely tight harmony vocals with 5 singers and great musicianship. They performed lots of their hits but not enough time to play their entire catalog and played a few other tunes as well, including a brand new song.

Somebody posted a video on You Tube from last night's performance

i didnt hear one thing about them playing in altoona.
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

I caught the last half of the Doobies' set, after racing back to Altoona from the Hurricanes Blues Cruise at Raystown. I was pretty impressed with the overall quality of the Doobie Brothers. Thanks to Galaxy Audio, I was given a pass to watch the encore from backstage!

It was great to see the huge crowd as well...which will help guarantee that shows like this continue to come to Altoona.

I found out that one of the drummers for The Doobie Brothers, Ed Toth, used to play with the band Vertical Horizon and also that his sister lives in Somerset County.

Ed Toth relocated to Boston in 1995 and, in 1996, hooked up with Vertical Horizon. Ed spent nine years with VH and scored a multi platinum smash with the bands RCA debut “Everything You Want” in 2000. The title track was the most played song on U.S. radio that year and won three Billboard awards. The album also yielded the hits “You’re A God,” and “Best I Ever Had.” Vertical Horizon followed up with “Go” in 2003. “The VH experience is an amazing one. I got to fulfill a lot of my dreams and travel the world all of because of being involved with such great music. It was truly extraordinary.”

This was an awesome show! I had forgotten about it and then a client gave me a handful of tickets Friday. My kids had a great time, my daughter said "They sort of remind me of Chris Vipond, they are all really good musicians"

Great time for all, I only hope that the shriners keep em coming...

One heck of a day ! The Hawks played 30 from 5:00 to 7:30. (Saw Don Osborn there - thanks Don). Caught the Doobies from 8:00 until the end of the show. (Don was there too). Then headed to Shaw's for the Canes. (Saw Don there again). Good times !
