Band and Club owners Question about promo material

Post by Blue Reality »

I've got a new project that's ready to hit the road and wanted to know what's the state of affairs with material bands send to clubs, and club owners recieve for booking. Is everone directing interest to websites and myspace pages or are people still sending printied copy and cd's via snail mail?

Any feed back is helpful....

Thanks

After spending a fortune on BluesMoon promo I've learned it was a waste of money. We got gigs by word of mouth and reputation. Only a few came by presskits. State College is a town of cliques and the best way to get in that is go out and see the bands and maybe sit in or go to karaoke at a venue and get notice that way. But if you're trying to get in a certain bar that already has a group of bands that know each other and you're not one of them - Good Luck.

BluesMoon had a good run. Between Andrew's connections in State College, our guitar player's connections and me going out and working the clubs we did ok. Summer Festivals were our biggest success. But the PLCB and DUI are killing the business slowly but surely.

BluesMoon is done, I'm taking a break, and when I do get back to it I'll probably look to Pittsburgh. I'm used to the travel.

Best of Luck!!
