Healthcare vote tomorrow
I don't think it will pass. Anyone who does vote for it will not be re-elected ..
Anyone else opinions? I know a couple of you want to see it passed.
Well, as I said; Take out the public option and government funded abortions. Don't take any money away from Medicare, regulate the insurance companies, don't add more taxes to the people of this country, and I will be more partial to it .. Otherwise, put it in the lake with a pair of cement shoes ..

There's a slight chance of it passing. If they pay off the key swing votes.
Taxing the American people in the middle of "the worst recession since the Great Depression" is not very smart.
I agree that many of these Dems-turned-Socs will lose next election, regardless of the vote.
I won't support ANY Government-run Health Care Bill.
I'm not sure what to do about pre-existing conditions.
I think co-ops could go a long way for the underinsured. Are they tax-free? i.e Dr. Gates.
Health Savings Accounts should be available to everyone.
At some point, maybe we should move away from employer-based policies. More competition, and more selective coverage policies, you might be better off on your own.
I'm sure we could do a better job teaching the importance of being independant. You get a job, you get a car payment, hasn't worked out.
Wish I knew more, but "reforming" the system, I'm against it!

Like a train that stops at every station
We all deal with trials and tribulations
Fear hangs the fellow that ties up his years
Entangled in yellow and cries all his tears
Changes come before we can grow
Learn to see them before we're too old
Don't just take me for tryin' to be heavy
Understand, it's time to get ready for the storm
We all deal with trials and tribulations
Fear hangs the fellow that ties up his years
Entangled in yellow and cries all his tears
Changes come before we can grow
Learn to see them before we're too old
Don't just take me for tryin' to be heavy
Understand, it's time to get ready for the storm
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.

It's been the same for thousands of years

...And the libs will form their own Tear Party, eh? If they "own" the mainstream media, they'll use that to the full, as the wingnut media has... EVERY television show not on Faux News will insert liberal propaganda into EVERY episode. Hippies, gays, and college students will march on Washington, and this time it will be carried LIVE on every station, instead of just Faux. As the FedGov goes back to the business of screwing the middle class in favor of Big Business, the American people will ignore talkshow heroes, and in 2016, there will be a far-left president that will make Big Bad Obama look like William F. The pendulum swings. W is the most responsible man in the world for Obama's successful run for president. Thank you W! They are certainly not moving us to the right!
And by the way, what side is the Constitution?
Even if you say that it's the middle, which way have we been going the last 100 years? How's the progressive agenda worked out for us?
I'll go down the middle, but that won't be turning left, my friend!

Obama is going to be the main reason why the Liberals are not voted back in. That is going to be the best thing he ever did I will like ..Hawk wrote:The pendulum swings. Oh and just for the record, the vote last night was just to move it forward. They still don't have enough for the final bill to pass. So there are some of them that are looking out for their jobs ...

Re: Healthcare vote tomorrow
No, the fascist authoritarians are those who attempt to force me to be a right-wing extremist. They are fascists because they cannot allow anyone to have any thought not approved by them, and want to eliminate any opposition to their agenda. They are authoritarians because they ALWAYS assume the moral, social, and political authority... none of which they actually have. For every conservative "victory," there is a misstep and defeat.PStl wrote:"fascist authoritarians" are what we have in there at the moment (R&D).

And by the way, what side is the Constitution?
As for the Constitution, the day after the current administration took power, every talkshow hero suddenly became a Constitutional lawyer, interpreting it as they saw fit, and of course, only a conservative has the "authority" to do so.
I, too, have read the document. I see no excerpt, in part or in full, that mentions conservatism or liberalism explicitly, nor any reference that allows more power to go to one side, in fact, it appears to limit powers more than to expand a particular ideology. As with the Bible, different people with different beliefs interpret it in different ways... so which church is the "true" one? The only "truth" appears to be that each of us is alone the keeper of the "truth." This is decidedly not a conservative idea, as current right and left wing fringes each reserve the "truth" as their own. The partisan media spend a large chunk of time telling me I need to listen to them because they are telling the "truth." They want me to forget their mistakes and outright falsehoods. They want me to believe my world was a much better place under Reagan... it was not. They want me to believe my world was a terrible place under Clinton... it was not. They want me to believe it was again a better place under Bush... it was most certainly not. Now they want me to believe the current admin is the worst of all... not for me. I'm doing pretty great. I have more money in the bank than ever, I have a good-paying job, and I even have some extra $$ to buy toys with. Our area effectively bypassed the worst of the Bush Recession, if only because we didn't get caught up in the spend-spend-spend of laissez-faire capitalism. It's good to live in Central PA.
When I think of fascist authoritarians, I think of Tear-Partiers complaining about EVERYTHING and blaming a first-year president for EVERYTHING. I think of a divisive right-wing media who sold us the Iraq War and other Bush mistakes, and called us unpatriotic if we disagreed. I think of red-faced radical religious leaders using the pulpit for political means, and doubting the morality of anyone who says, "Happy Holidays." I think of Big Business controlling the govt via billions in "donations" to business lobbyists. If we're not moving more to the right, then good. We were WAY too far to the right, and the Obama election proved that.--->JMS
