The leadership of the Republican party has been taken over by the one extreme while the Democratic party has slowly drifted further and further to the other extreme. In the general population, the great majority of people from both parties fall somewhere in the middle and are not polarized, so to speak. If this continues, and there is no reason to think it won't, the moderates from one or both parties will splinter off and form a large new centrist party. Its long overdue.

Well, first of all, unemployment has indeed slowed. New claims are down, the stock market's up, the insurance industry just got a giant welfare package from the govt so they're making a killing, real estate is coming back, except for overpriced commercial property... overall, it's not screaming back to 2006 levels like you seem to think it should a year later, but it's pointing the right direction. Talkshow hosts don't agree... but they all have the most to lose, so of course, they won't "translate" that for you. You have to look at other sources, too.--->JMS
