Obama. It's always Obama. He did it.
Honestly, I'm not sure what in the hell to make of the website posted. It's obvious rightwing douchery, but in certain passages, it sounds like HuffPo or something.
I LOL'ed at the banner ads for free guns, gold scams, and the seedbank for the upcoming World Apocalypse. The Apocalypse is pure comedy gold for moderates... we love how the veins throb on wingnuts' foreheads as they fantasize about impending mass destruction. They spend so much time telling me about the end of America, and the world, you gotta wonder, if the world is indeed circling the toilet bowl, why aren't they spending their time preparing, instead of countless hours watching Fox, or surfing survivalist websites? And didn't these same exact people build shelters and stockpile supplies for Y2K? I forget, how'd that turn out?

While I usually roll my eyes at "The Founding Fathers were super duper geniuses and nothing short of living deities" position, I do largely agree with the editorial of the article. I forsee more rights and freedoms being trampled upon for what, when it comes down to it, is a statistically sporadic scenario when considering how many planes are in the sky on any given day. That's not to play down the tragedy of a terrorist attack aboard a flight, but this is another chance to whip America up into another frenzy of being obsessed with which color we're at on the terror alert, along with xenophobia against foreigners...and oh, yeah! Throwing out rationality when it comes to invading countries we have no business in invading (though I don't see us going to war with Nigeria lol). But hey, maybe my philosophy would be different if I were hurdling towards Earth in the cabin of a 737 after being hijacked by some religious nutbar. Either way, the world is going to suffer a bit because of the lax security of an airport in Amsterdam.
Flying is already a pain in the ass experience. I wouldn't surprised if we're no longer allowed carry-ons. It helps make us more "secure" and the airlines get a boost in revenue by charging us for checked luggage, no matter its size.
Just my .02 cents.
P.S. I'm highly amused by the article title: BOMBSHELL: Evidence Clearly Indicates Staged Attack on Detroit Flight. No shit, Sherlock! Did you honestly think that the public thought that the guy was just sitting in his seat bored and decided to make a bomb out of his underroos to pass the time?

You don't shoot a man in the dick!
Chris Matthews of MSNBC actually argued tonight about doing more profiling of say young males from Yemen that get on a plane with no luggage and buy a one way ticket with cash. He said it is time to ease up on strip searching 80 year old blue haired grandmas.
See, I agree with MSNBC's main talking head on this point.

Plane safety
I havent flown since 1990. One of the few experiences I did have flying back and forth from Germany was that while home on Christmas leave,in 1994 I had a lay over in Boston. We did not get off the plane because it was a brief one.
Any way, a Jack Daniels representative for AAFES, which stands for Army Air Force Exchange Services (PX) boarded and sat behind me. He asked me where I was stationed and how did I like Germany.
So after a brief conversation, he looks as me very nonchalantly and said "You know that Quaddaffi promised to blow a plane up for the attacks on his headquarters."
Shocked, I looked at him and asked him if he had any free samples of his fine Tennessee whiskey. If I was goin down I was dying drunk and past out.
In all honestly, I think it is needed but then again, you never know when some crazy bastard wants to blow up a plane any more than you know when some silly asshole is going to walk into a bar or a shopping center and start shooting people.
Safety measures are needed to be sure, but to sit there and blame this person or that is like blaming Joe Snuffy for Bin Laden declaring jihad. It just doesnt make sense.

Having talent is one thing....what you do with it is something else
Yeah, I really think it's a little out of hand with the constant searches of people who obviously aren't likely terrorists. I don't, as the link stated, believe this was all an orchestrated press stunt. For whom? The TSA dropped the ball, the terrorists built a faulty bomb, and Napolitano (representing the Obama admin) handed Fox News the soundbite of the month. We're lucky so many bumbling eff-ups were involved in the whole situation, somebody could have gotten killed.
Anybody heard the identity of the guy who stopped the terrorist? He's going to be very famous soon.--->JMS

Now come on songsmith, you know the reason why they don't search the ones that look like terrorists-because someone is afraid they'll use the racist card and say they are being targeted because of their ethnic backgroundsongsmith wrote:Yeah, I really think it's a little out of hand with the constant searches of people who obviously aren't likely terrorists

Oh, they search the ones who look like they're middle-eastern... I have an Indian friend (born here) who gets the once-over every time he flies. The passengers watch him, too!
This kid, though, was black.
Has anyone even noticed that the people who let this guy on a plane weren't Americans? It wasn't our domestic system that failed this time, it was our trust that other countries are as vigilant as we are.
Also, I'd point out that once again, it was the regular citizen who saw the problem and acted, not Homeland Security.
And Witch, wouldn't it be awesome if the hero turned out to be Sully Sullenberger!
Of course, nobody'd ever get on a plane with him again!--->JMS

Freakin' halirious...and he sums up exactly my feeling on the hour before landing rule: "Has the last hour of a flight been designated as 'Terror Time' at Jihad-con?"rreihart wrote:My favorite take on this subject.

Another thing that struck me about that is, depending on air traffic, your approach pattern and how things are going on the ground it is difficult to determine exactly when that last hour is.bassist_25 wrote:Freakin' halirious...and he sums up exactly my feeling on the hour before landing rule: "Has the last hour of a flight been designated as 'Terror Time' at Jihad-con?"rreihart wrote:My favorite take on this subject.
