Man who invented "Gumby" passed away

Post by Hawk »

Art Clokey died in his sleep. He was 88.

Gumby will be 55 in May.

And yes, I owned one of the original, bendable Gumby toys. :D

oddly enough, when i was watching the show religiously in the late 80's/early 90's, i never realized that i was watching episodes of gumby from the 60's-70's on nickelodeon.

i had a gumby and a pokey, but they weren't bendable.

Mr. Clokey and his first wife also produced “Davey and Goliath,” the adventures of a clay boy and his dog, broadcast in the 1960s and ’70s.

Man who invented "Gumby" dead

I am old enough to remember the original TV show. Which I still have nightmares about ... that and weird clowns coming for me. Anyways, its starting to get to the point that some really big icons from the 60s and 70s are going to be leaving us and that really breaks my heart

Somewhere, buried amongst other childhood treasures, is a Gumby and Pokey...both bendable. I don't know what position they were in last, but knowing my sick friends at the time I should probably handle them with rubber gloves.
