The Last Political Thread
So everyone is a fucking genius when it comes to spouting bullshit about how wrong everyone else is.
I can't count the number of times that I have heard someone tell me from a podium that they "now how to fix healthcare". I hear on this page all the time about how wrong the Dems are. Oh by the way, what the fuck is this new "progressive" thing? Is it bad to be progressive? I guess I would have to consider the possibility of being Regressive before I knew that for sure.
America is Progressive. We have always stood for moving forward and advancing in just about every aspect of our culture. Where have we defined as a nation that it would be best to just stay the same for ever? I don't understand. Is the GOP running on a platform of "reverting to little house on the prairie"?
But, that is the point of this thread. How do we do it? What are the better ways? We are all in this world together. I don't get a lot of things that seem to be common right wing topics. Like closing the borders. America was founded by opening the borders and bringing people here to live and become part of the American dream. Illegals taking our jobs? We should find out who the hell is hiring them and kick them out. I bet you it is some greedy American!
I believe that without the Government we would have a much greater divide between the rich and the poverty level. Once the truly wealthy are completely in power without any social programs to hamper them you might be surprised at what you would find. A possible Fascist regime? I just think that it is naive to think that the strong will give to and provide for the weak. Also bearing in mind that just about all of us are the weak. The tax code mandates that middle class range is about 30 to 200 grand a year. Now I realize that all of you make more then 30 grand a year, I mean if you didn't you would be dirt poor and should probably be bitch slapped out of my America for being fiscally regressive... And I also understand that for the majority of you that make over 200 grand a year your capital investment tax will go up from 2 to 4 percent but you can live with it....
So lay it on me, this is the last political post that I will make today.

The thing you have to look at is that it is Americas fault for what is going on. After all they are the ones who voted for Obama. The funny thing is that a majority of them are now against him. He said what he was going to do on his campaign trail and he did it. The only reason he got elected was because he wasn't Bush. People weren't paying attention to what he was spouting about, or didn't care - As long as Bush was out of there they were happy. Well this is what happens when you "Don't care, or don't pay attention" ...
The hole is getting deeper and what the Dems are doing is just making it worst. I haven't heard anything from Either side to really make me feel more comfortable about it. I only hope and pray that it will get better. That is about all you can do at this point.

Re: The Last Political Thread
Progressive? New? It is a movement that has been around since the 19th century. While they may have some letters in common, you will rarely see the terms progressive and progress used together. The democratic party presently has a progressive caucus:tornandfrayed wrote:Oh by the way, what the fuck is this new "progressive" thing? Is it bad to be progressive? Nancy Pelosi was a member, but I think she had to step down when she became Speaker.
Some more notable progressives:
Theodore Roosevelt* - Progressive party candidate for president, 1912
Woodrow Wilson*
Franklin Roosevelt
Lyndon Johnson
While they have many common traits, the terms liberal and progressive aren't completely interchangeable; however, since "liberal" has become the "L" word, the left of the political spectrum has adopted the label "progressive." I suppose they figure that a mainstream independent might not vote for a "liberal", but might vote for a "progressive." A rose by any other name... Most cable news channel personalities from both persuasions have also jumped on the bandwagon.
While progressives are opposed to social darwinism, many fully embraced the concept of eugenics. Go figure. "Lets not wait for economics to weed them out, we can do it faster & better ourselves." Hitler got most of his "master race" ideas from the American progressive eugenics movement.
The asterisks denote eugenics supporters.

I agree with Mysterytrain!
Anyway Dave, what are the problems right now? Then when you look and analyze what the problems are, you find out that the problems are government created. Then you ask the government to solve them, what are you doing? It's like one big circular reasoning pile of garbage.
Without the rich, who would pay the taxes? After all, it is the rich who employ people and pay them money. What do you want?
I'm all for letting in people from all walks of life to prosper in America, however there is a line between open borders and insanity. The problem with illegals is that they use a social network, created by government(hospitals, welfare, and jails) that they don't pay into. Go ahead, make them citizens and pay taxes and fight our wars with us.
Greedy American huh? I guess the American dream is confused with greed now. God forbid you go make something of yourself and earn a lot of money, you might be called greedy and be hated for making something of yourself.

Your right. Now who keeps the rich, well rich? The working class. So the rich get all the rewards and the working class gets table scraps. Thats fine its what others like myself sign up for. Now who keeps the rich from paying their employees less then the cost of them to live? Oh it must be the warmness in their non greedy hearts.RobTheDrummer wrote:Without the rich, who would pay the taxes? After all, it is the rich who employ people and pay them money. What do you want?
No the American dream isn't making something of yourself anymore. Its having your father or mother, or their parents making something of themselves, and you take over their success as the spoiled man you have became. Even the rich get hand outs.Greedy American huh? A guy told me at work that all the poor have to do is go to college and all of a sudden, Bam! they are successful

I'm just saying, without the rich, no one gets paid. However, I guess once the government destroys the value of the dollar, we'll all be poor and there won't be anymore wealth to go around.
The American dream used to be the idea that you can come here, without worry of an imposing government, where one can work to become something because where they came from....(socialist oppressive government) they couldn't get ahead in life. Now the American dream is an idea that you can come here, get paid to have children, get food stamps, and free healthcare and be taken care of by the government. A lot has changed in a few decades.

I got ya Rob. I was just stating that if "something" wasn't regulating the rich .all of the working class would be working for shit. See the rich who built the companies care about the employees that got it off the ground. The people who take the companies over didn't see the work that was put into by the employees, so to prevent him or her from ruining work environments or the pay of the employees "something" had to speak out for the workers.RobTheDrummer wrote:I'm just saying, without the rich, no one gets paid. As for general welfare, food stamps, and unemployment, if this was never invented or used, this country would either turn into a third world country, or anarchy. It is what makes this country look somewhat good. Yeah people take advantage of it and for as long as someone is giving handouts, someone will always take advantage of it.
I don't know how many of you people know but you can get pretty good insurance though PA's welfare for free if you meet the qualifications. This has been going on long before the Obama regime.

Carry on young Republican...I blame both sides for everything. So what do you think that makes me?
I love America and I live the American Dream. Problem here is that a lot of people care mostly for themselves. They don't care so much about others...
The rest of the point is how do we move forward?
I say that the American Dream is alive and well it has just re shaped itself.
What about all the companies that hire the non registered immigrants? What if everyone up held the law and did not do that?
And you gotta know that I am a pure Capitalist, without that I would not be able to make a living. Cause I sure as hell can't hold a real job....
So I am for business but with a conscious.

You are correct. For the next several generations of Americans, the American Dream will consist of paying off debt that the last 30 years of politicians borrowed to buy their elections.Flaw wrote:No the American dream isn't making something of yourself anymore.

Although that's not a very comrade-like thing to do, it is no longer an option. Decades of absurd government tax, borrow and spend policies combined with a whiney, spoiled rotten baby-boomer generation's propensity to borrow their way to prosperity in order to live well beyond their means has all but destroyed the manufacturing base of our country.Flaw wrote:comrade lonewolf and comrade undercovejoe, you guys are right make those 6 year olds work in sweat shops and earn their health insurance.undercoverjoe wrote:Another nomination for political post of the year.lonewolf wrote: For the next several generations of Americans, the American Dream will consist of paying off debt that the last 30 years of politicians borrowed to buy their elections.
There are simply not enough sweat shops to go around anymore.

Hey lonewolf that was one of the better responses yet. Yer right abou those baby boomers. How do you go from the Greatest Generation fathering the Worst Generation. Baby Boomers will never admit how badly they have screwed things up.
