Music trivia - Debut's ..

Post by f.sciarrillo »

Ok... This is a good one - There are a couple of bands who had huge debut albums. When I say Debut albums, I mean the very first album they released. Of course there is a band on the top of that list. Can you tell me who had the biggest selling debut (first) album in history?

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive!
Yes I know he was in Humble Pie but this was a different band

Pretty sure Todd is right. I think it's Boston's self-titled debut. Still a great fuckin' CD.

I'm pretty sure Edge is correct.

Appetite has sold over 18 million copies, if I'm not mistaken.

When he left Humble Pie, he recorded an album called "Frampton's Camel" and toured with that name. I saw him open calling himself Frampton's Camel for John Mayall"s Blues Breakers and Mountain somewhere upstate NY. (at one of the SUNY colleges). I think it was 73 or maybe 74.

Yes, Peter Frampton recorded several albums after Humble Pie and before Frampton Comes Alive, which contained all songs from his previous studio albums.

Wind of Change (1972)
Frampton's Camel (1973)
Somethin's Happening (1974)
Frampton (1975)
Frampton Comes Alive! (1976)

Guns "n Roses "Appetite For Destruction" recently passed up "Boston" as the best selling "debut" album in the U.S. However, Guns 'n Roses did have an EP out before that called "Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide" that was billed as a live recording, although Axl Rose would reveal, years later, that it was simulated

yeah, it is GnR. Like Moxam said, they just passed up Boston, who's debut album sold around 17 million cd's. It is an awesome album at that as well.

My top favorite bands - Foreigner, Bad Company, Journey and Boston.
