TruGreen or Lawn Doctor? Or anything like that? What's your opinion?

I'm not getting any results with my weed and feed

lawn care

Post by lynch1 »

I have never used them personally, but I have neighbors who use them, lawns look great. I have talked to a couple people who say you have to watch though. They have security cameras on their homes, they can come in and do work (spread fertilizer, seed , whatever) when you are not home, they put a stick in the yard to let you know they were there. These people said that one of the employees came in, didn't do a thing, and put one of those sticks in their yard (maybe they didn't need anything at that time, i dunno exactly how it works). But if you are paying monthly or yearly fee I would hope they are doing what they are supposed to. another thing you have to watch is if you have dogs or small children that play in the grass, the chemicals can make dogs and children sick.

I used Lawn Doctor for several years. Had a beatiful lawn. Cost then was $125.00 for 4 visits.
I then decided I had enough time to do it myself and cancelled Lawn Doctor. The following summer I had the worst case of weeds in the neighborhood. I swear they put some kind of dormant weed seeds in my lawn that would activate if not treated with whatever Lawn Doctor uses!
Still have more weeds than ever!

Well I called Tru-Green today. It will run approx $50 per visit...not including 2 of the $100 recommended treatments they call for once per year. They do 7 visits per year. My lawn looks bad right now...lots of dandelions. My next door neighbor uses them (he has for years and has a 'grandfathered' rate though) and his lawn looks great. The lady I spoke to was a little pushy about getting service started. I broke her heart by not agreeing to anything lol.

I am going to have LawnDoctor out to give me an estimate. Though, I may just wait until we redo the landscaping around the house anyway.

Ill design the back yard skate park and get it approved through the city, you put on the benefit show for it, and then we ride 8)
