Good trivia question. I know this one but will let somebody else answer. Joan Jett & The Blackheart's version is very close to the original.

DINGDINGDING!!! That is correct, The Arrows were the original "I Love Rock-N-Roll" band. Also, Joan & The Blackhearts hit again with another cover, "Crimson & Clover", originally done by Tommy James & The Shondells.
