Drummers Only

This place lets you design your own drumsticks.

I had been looking for a stick that no one makes (that I know of). Diameter: .625, Length: 16 1/4". Long taper and ball tip. Hickory.

Background:
I'm currently playing in a Blues band so I'm not breaking sticks. I play traditional grip and I have big hands, so I like a somewhat large diameter stick. I wanted a long taper because it gives me better control of my dynamics and helps with rebounding. Most sticks with a .625 to .630 diameter have a medium or short taper. The (wood) ball tip gives me nice definition on drums and cymbals. I also use Zildjian Stick Wax for gripping.

So I find this company and I buy 6 pair. .622 diameter x 16 1/4" long taper, ball tip.

$5.00 a pair (unfinished) minimum 6 pair.

I find the sticks to be very well made. Straight. The grain on all but one was straight. They feel and play exactly like I want them to. They are NOT pitched matched. The only place pitch matching matters to me is on my drum pad. Pitch matching doesn't matter to me on a kit. Out of 12 sticks you can pitch match your own.

Then I bought something called "Plasti Dip" at Lowe's. Home Depot carries something similar. Don't let the name fool you. It's a rubber coating for tool handles. I followed the directions and did three dips on each stick (In a different container so I could dip 8" of the stick).

Now I have the perfect stick (for me). And no more stick waxing.

I would recommend this company for sticks bearing in mind that they are not pitched matched and you might get one or two that don't have perfect grain.

Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.
