Music Trivia - My Ding-A-Ling
It was mentioned in another music trivia thread about the song My Ding-A-Ling. My Ding-a-Ling" was a 1972 novelty hit record for Chuck Berry, and his only U.S. number-one single on the pop charts. However, it was an altered, cover version of another song. Who originally recorded the song?
Not just a great guess but the correct answer.Eightball wrote:Just a guess. Was it Dave Bartholomew sometime in the 1950's?
The song (entitled "Little Girl Sing Ding-a-Ling") was recorded by Dave Bartholomew in 1952. In 1954, The Bees released a version entitled "Toy Bell." Chuck Berry recorded a version called "My Tambourine" in 1958, but the version which topped the charts was recorded live during the Lanchester Arts Festival at the Locarno ballroom in Coventry, England, on 3 February 1972, where Berry - backed by The Roy Young Band - topped a bill that also included Slade and Billy Preston.
From several sources including chuckberry.com, youtube.com, and wikipedia.com
Little Girl Sing Ding-a-Ling was originally recorded by Dave Bartholomew

Probably one of the earliest double entendre songs ever
