I don't live in PA so I don't vote up there, but it seems to me that the easiest way to piss off voters for both parties is to do what Specter did. He left the Republican Party, so they hate him, and the Democratic Party doesn't see him as a true Democrat, so they hate him too. I think he asked for this.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

When you jump back and forth like Arlen did it makes me feel that your ethics and integrity are not the things that are driving you. I think that Sestak seems like he could be a good guy.

Frank, maybe you're right. Let's make sure our kids don't have to live with a deficit (although YOU never complained / cared / new about it until Obama became president.)

Poison and pollute our kids future, that's fine, as long as we don't spend any government money. Let the future generation worry about cleaning up after us. Never mind that there are currently about 13 States where one cannot eat the fish in the streams. We don't care about pollution as long as nothing increases government spending. Our kids might be sick but they won't complain that we left them in debt. And that is most important!

And let's shut down all unions. Hell, a reasonable wage (by those damn union standards) is why about 90% of manufacturing left for Mexico and China. And Let's do away with minimum wage. That way we can eventually and incrementally compete with labor in China and Mexico, therefore bringing jobs back to the USA ! And like G W Bush tried to push through, no 40 hour work weeks! If you employer wants you to work 60 hours a week why should there be any increased overtime pay. That was another damn union idea we need to get rid of. 40 hour work week huh! How can we compete with China when lazy Americans thing 8 hours is a full day.

And how about child labor laws. Get the government off my back and out of my life. If I want my 10 year old to go to work, what right does the government have telling me he can't work! Just more government intrusion and I don't like it - Government Bad, Big Business Good!

Get the government OUT of our live. After all, where is it in the Constitution that the Federal Government should be involved in bringing jobs back. That ain't in the Constitution! If the people won't go out and work for a dollar a day like they do in China, it's their own damn fault. Don't ask the government for help!

We can save capitalism in the USA if we just worked for a dollar a day and quit asking for stupid things from our employers like health insurance.

Health insurance should ONLY be for those who can afford it. That's how capitalism is supposed to work. If your sick and can't pay, too bad. And I know I'm right about this because The Limbaugh god told me!

And Let's stop the hospitals from padding their bills to make up the difference when someone can't pay. What the hell is up with that. Let 'em die. This way some of us would have more money and more money is more important than someone else's life.

Let's close Medicare. Give back the money to the people who contributed (what's left of it) and tell them they're on their own. That's the ticket. It ain't in the Constitution.

Social Security, privatise it. If wall street collapses , so be it. You loose. But don't expect entitlements from the government. It ain't in the Constitution.

One thing we should do is form a private task force. They would find and shoot on the spot, all slackers. Doesn't matter what their reason for not working is. Our deficit went to $12 trillion just because of them. The Democrats will tell you some of the deficit comes from cutting taxes to the rich, tax breaks to big oil and something about an unjustified war. But don't listen to them, they lie.

And no regulations. Get the government off the back's of big business. Without all of those damn restrictions they will make more money and they will pass it along to us with higher wages. Perhaps $2 a day! But we would still be competitive on the world market ! Honestly, why should we expect these magnanimous manufacturing companies be cleaning up our streams. That's why the streams are there, for dumping.

Frank, I finally see your side of the coin...umm, dollar.

BTW Frank, voting for Ron Paul ?

Hmm - Looks to me like you are losing and you know it. Otherwise you wouldn't have these ten page rebuttals. I get it that you are in love with the liberal way of life, that is your choice you have the right to be that way. I don't go for any of it. It is all a bunch of bs as far as I am concerned. Nothing anyone says you like and there is no point arguing with a one sided person who watches msnbc 24/7 and gets nothing from anywhere else - A lot of it is actually to just get a rise out of you because just mentioning something negative about a liberal like Barry Obama or Spector, or any other liberal for that matter, ruffles your feathers like no other. That is the funny thing.

The point is Frank, that you never actually say anything. I am sorry if I wrote more than you can comprehend. I should have known better relative to our history. Hell, you can't even remember what YOU said.

At least I rebut, on the other hand you can't. You can only parrot and fail miserably when you have to think for yourself. Again, you are the typical fox watcher. Their poster boy.

Try disagreeing with some insight and facts rather than some conservative cliche you heard.

If this thread was not for trolling purposes why did you start it? Do you think there is anyone who follows politics that didn't know Specter lost ?

I'd be willing to bet...Oh shoot. i have to stop. Too many words for you to take in.

BTW I didn't vote for Specter.

Keep it up!

You both win! Lets just be fucking Americans together and get rid of the crooks! Remove the labels and give me your opinions on important matters. Lets vote for people that we believe in, not for some bullshit "party".

Keep it up and America loses! It is up to us to come together and make this shit work.

Your point of coming together for the good of the country is a good point. Frank and I would agree that we both want that. However we could never agree on how to do it.

I don't want off shore drilling. Frank does.
I want the government to spend money to help create jobs. Frank (I believe) would like Obama to create jobs without spending anything.
I want everyone to be covered by health insurance. Frank does not. He will tell you he does but will have no plan to do it.

Just read my "ten page post" above to see what Frank wants.

On a serious note: I do agree with offshore oil drilling. This whole thing down in the gulf was a political agenda. Obama took him time to respond because he wanted to maximize the damage to show a point he had. There are also more resources we have in this country to make us less dependant on countries that hate us - as long as we can fend for our selves the stronger we will be.

Health I am for as long as they keep government funded abortions out and put tort reform in.

We can create more jobs. The only jobs that obama is spending money on are cencus workers and people to work for the irs, just incase you don't get that mandated health insurance. When we say jobs we mean real jobs, not ones for the goverment.

I do not agree with unions. They did do a lot of good in the past, but now they are pointless. Especailly with the labor laws we have now.

you speak of the constitution? The obama admin doesn't even know what that is ... they also don't know how to read. Look at the health care bill and the arizona immigration law. They haven't read either of them but one they are forcing down our throats and the other they are totally against.

This country was based on capitalism. You liberals want the government to pay for everything. You all want this to be a socialist country, not a democracy. This is the USA not the USSA. Wake up, if you want socialism, move to flipping Russia.

there is nothing that can be said for anything else. I like capitalism and democratic rule. Bill likes communism, socialism, and dictatorship rule. Who will be the one laughing in the end?

WHY IS IT OBAMA'S JOB TO CLEAN IT UP. SHOULDN'T THE PEOPLE WHO TAKE THE RISK, AND MAKE THE MONEY, BE READY AND ABLE TO HANDLE ANY MISFORTUNE?

Health I am for as long as they keep government funded abortions out and put tort reform in.
THERE ARE NO GOVERNMENT FUNDED ABORTIONS. WHY ARE YOU AGAINST A JURY DECIDING PROPER FINANCIAL SECURITIES WHEN A WRONG HAS BEEN DONE TO THEM, YET YOU TRUST A JURY WITH LIFE AND DEATH SENTENCES? IS MONEY MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ?

We can create more jobs. The only jobs that obama is spending money on are cencus workers and people to work for the irs, just incase you don't get that mandated health insurance. When we say jobs we mean real jobs, not ones for the goverment.

MANUFACTURING LEFT FOR CHEAP LABOR. WHAT JOBS DO YOU THINK WE CAN CREATE?
WHAT JOBS HAVE BEEN CREATED IS UNDER CONTENTION. HOWEVER CHECK OUT ALL OF THE REPUBLICANS HANDING OUT CHECKS AND TAKING CREDIT FOR BRINGING MONIES TO THEIR RESPECTIVE CONSTITUENTS. NOT TO MENTION THE BRIDGES BEING REPAIRED AND ROADWAYS BEING BUILT AND REPAIRED. POLICE FORCES BEING STAFFED AND MORE THAN JUST THE CENSUS.

BTW IT IS IN THE CONSTITUTION THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST TAKE A CENSUS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TEN YEARS. DID THEY SAY THAT ON FOX?

I do not agree with unions. They did do a lot of good in the past, but now they are pointless. Especailly with the labor laws we have now. ARE YOU AGAINST THE 40 HOUR WORK WEEK LIKE BUSH AND THE REPUBLICANS ARE ? OR WOULD YOU PREFER THAT WORKERS BAND TOGETHER TO KEEP A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK WITH OVERTIME PAY?

you speak of the constitution? The obama admin doesn't even know what that is ... they also don't know how to read. Look at the health care bill and the arizona immigration law. They haven't read either of them but one they are forcing down our throats and the other they are totally against.

Here is Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution:
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.

THE "GENERAL WELFARE" WORDS HAVE BEEN ARGUED ABOUT SINCE THE DAYS OF ALEXANDER HAMILTON AND THOMAS JEFFERSON.

IF ONE CONSIDERS EDUCATION GOOD FOR THE GENERAL GOOD OF THE COUNTRY IT COMES UNDER THAT CLAUSE. IF ONE CONSIDERS THAT ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE, IT IS CONSTITUTIONAL UNDER THAT CLAUSE.

AS ONE (I THINK A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE) SAID, "IF THAT POWER TO CONGRESS IS LIMITED TO DEFENCE WHY DIDN'T THE WRITERS EXCISE THE WORDS "AND GENERAL WELFARE"?

AND THIS IS IN THE CONSTITUTION:
To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.

THE WORDS "NECESSARY AND PROPER" HAVE ALSO BEEN USED TO SAY THAT CONGRESS HAS THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO LEVY TAXES AND MAKE LAWS RELATIVE TO "THE GENERAL WELFARE".

THESE TWO PHRASES HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED RELATIVE TO THEIR MEANING AND POWER SINCE THE CONSTITUTION WAS WRITTEN.

This country was based on capitalism. You liberals want the government to pay for everything. You all want this to be a socialist country, not a democracy. This is the USA not the USSA. Wake up, if you want socialism, move to flipping Russia.
THAT'S RHETORIC AGAIN, WE WANT CAPITOLISM AND WE SEE NECESSARY SOME SOCIAL PROGRAMS.

there is nothing that can be said for anything else. I like capitalism and democratic rule. Bill likes communism, socialism, and dictatorship rule. Who will be the one laughing in the end?
DEMOCRACY CLEARLY STILL EXISTS. THE COUNTRY IS STILL WELCOME TO VOTE OUT OBAMA IF THEY DON'T LIKE HIM. WHERE DO YOU GET THIS "DICTATOR" THING ? I LOVE DEMOCRACY!

I'M SELF EMPLOYED, IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE CAPITOLISTIC THAN THAT. I LOVE CAPITOLISM! ARE YOU FOR MAKING ALL ROADWAYS PRIVATE? OR DO YOU FIND THAT SOME SOCIAL PROJECTS ARE NECESSARY?
I'm sorry for all the capitol letters as I am ignorant as to how to put my comments between his quotes. Also my spell check doesn't work when I use all capitol letters and my spelling ignorance will show.

And I am excited that Frank offered opinions along with reasons for his opinions. Way to go Frank!

The funny thing is that this is what Fox wants Fox watchers to believe "liberals" think of people like Frank. For the sole purpose of making them think that only Fox has their collective backs.

IMHO this is actually what Fox and Limbaugh think of you so they can use you to get your votes to keep the rich in power. But that's just an opinion and I can't prove it.

I can't make a position statement one way or another, both because my day gig is one of neutrality and my own personal philosophy is that of a neutral disposition, but I can tell you as someone who deals with labor law and is in the thick of labor relations on a daily basis that there are a lot of misconceptions about American industrial relations and labor law. And yes, like most things of any complexity that you'll hear me talk about, it's not black and white.

James Madison advocated for the ratification of the Constitution in The Federalist and at the Virginia ratifying convention upon a narrow construction of the clause, asserting that spending must be at least tangentially tied to one of the other specifically enumerated powers, such as regulating interstate or foreign commerce, or providing for the military, as the General Welfare Clause is not a specific grant of power, but a statement of purpose qualifying the power to tax.[16][17]
Alexander Hamilton, only after the Constitution had been ratified, argued for a broad interpretation which viewed spending as an enumerated power Congress could exercise independently to benefit the general welfare, such as to assist national needs in agriculture or education, provided that the spending is general in nature and does not favor any specific section of the country over any other.[18]

The Court wrote:

“ [T]he [General Welfare] clause confers a power separate and distinct from those later enumerated, is not restricted in meaning by the grant of them, and Congress consequently has a substantive power to tax and to appropriate, limited only by the requirement that it shall be exercised to provide for the general welfare of the United States. … It results that the power of Congress to authorize expenditure of public moneys for public purposes is not limited by the direct grants of legislative power found in the Constitution. … But the adoption of the broader construction leaves the power to spend subject to limitations. … [T]he powers of taxation and appropriation extend only to matters of national, as distinguished from local, welfare. ”

I dont know if I agree with your take on this; but if you are correct and I am wrong that makes me really dislike that motherfucker.

I am a conservative democrat and I hope every extreme left and right incumbent gets voted out. Personally I am sick of the good ole boys... Democrat and Republican. Im tired of wasteful spending, no child left behind, FOX News slant, MSNBC News woe is me BS... Im tired of Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Colmes. I am tired of watching us try to rehabilitate convicted criminals, I am tired of dudes who smoke a little pot worry about getting busted. The whole thing is a fucking joke that is governed by a bunch of ppl who make a ton of cash and stroke the system so they can be "our savior" and get the best medical benefits in our society. I believe in the death penalty, and I believe in most prolife situations. I believe when most politicians go to office they are honest hard working ppl; but when they get their tenure they become crooked disenchanted ppl.

Limit the terms. Thats the answer. When u are out of office u receive no compensation whatsoever. Join the real working world. Serve us, serve our ideals, help us accomplish what our forefathers fought for, and when your term is up let the next idealist try his or her very best for our fundamental rights.

Think you have much in common with your political representative? Invite them over for a beer and see where that leads...

Actually, the debt will reach $13 trillion sometime tomorrow.

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

The way things are today, you really need to pay attention to be accurate on the debt. It's not like the good old days when it only went up a few hundred billion a year...now its more than a hundred billion a month.

To put that into perspective, thats enough money to pay more than 50 million people a salary of $2000 per month each.

I wonder where all that money is going and what good its doing?
