I found these videos of Larry Graham demonstrating his Bass Slapping & Popping Techniques. He was the innovator of this style and influenced many players.

I like his song "One in a million you". I never knew he played bass. He is great !

edit: I have heard him - Sly and the Family Stone. I never knew his name though ...
