Mama Corn

Post by nakedtwister »

I have to say I was most impressed with the Mama Corn performance at Valley View. It has long been on my bucket list of things to do and boy was it a treat. Every aspect of what these guys bring is kick ass music. Vocals, harmonies, musicianship, and comedy. Even if your not into Blue Grass, they are a must see. A learning experience in the least, a great band for the most. Grass on guys. B

Article on local youth rockers

Post by Jim Price »

Here's an article from the Altoona Mirror spotlighting some of this area's youth rockers. Good stuff!

Thanks, B, we enjoyed it too... we had some PA issues Saturday that made for a stressful gig, and it was nice that the system worked well at Valley View. I'm pretty sure we'll do it again next year.
Did I mention that we're going to the studio? :D

Thanks for the link, JP, I missed that one. I always like to see kids taking an interest in the rock combo. According to Jerry Zoltan, the rock band was derived from the small-format R&B combo. That, he said on the radio, was conceived by Louis Jordan in the mid 1930's at an appearance at the Huntingdon Fairgrounds, of all places. I have to ask him more about it, if I ever meet him.--->JMS

Sorry for the accidental hijack of this thread...I knew I posted the Mirror article link, but didn't realize I had done so on this thread. Must be old age or lack of sleep...

In any case, to get back on topic, I'm overdue for a round of the 'Corn...

I kinda figured that, nothing hurt.
I think our next real show is with The Primer Greys, Sept. 11th... we're doing a little picking at Chip N Dales occasionally, but it's not a formal gig, just picking. We blocked out August to record, we've been playing alot, and wanted to record while we were at our tightest instrumentally. We're working at Audible Images, I've recorded there a few times, and Bill's done a good job for us in the past.
Gigs do jump up, though, so I'll let you know!--->JMS
