Listening to that makes me want to watch Lord Of The Rings or play WOW .. It isn't that bad, not something that I would listen to all the time though.

This is about all I listen to all the time, when it comes to metal:

I know what you mean. I havent watched lord of the rings or really played WoW. I tried it for 2 mins and hated it. I have no clue why people play that game.
Anyway, Seems like the new Dimmu Borgir stuff is gonna be more orchestral. Im not exactly sure how i feel about that. I just hope they didnt over do it on every track.

My fave Dimmu Borgir song: "Kings of The Carnival Creation" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeITMxApxKw

Interesting song. The kick is like a machine gun (I'm not talking about sound quality or tonality, but speed). It's hard for me to fathom someone playing that in perfect time throughout the entire song. I'd be interested to hear them live and to see what he does with the kick.

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying that it almost seems superhuman.

Kinda cool. Does put me in the mindset of WOW after looking at the demon horned cd art. I'm going to check out some more of their songs.

The kick is a good point. I wonder the same thing. Maybe he has an electronic pedal? I know there were some in the past who had them - I think Lars Ulrich did at one time.

their drummer is beyond amazing live. granted he uses triggers, but the drum parts he plays like this are perfectly duplicated by him in real time. he plays with zero attack; he plays like a jazz drummer with the distance of attack from the drum head to the stick at the absolute bare minimum of spacing. the triggers allow him to play with almost no aggression, but he i can't take anything away from him- he was phenomenal.
i thought Dimmu would go LESS orchestral too, Keith. but i'll alaways be a Silenoz fan so i dig it. you should check out Watain's Lawless Darkness. it's f.ckin' awesome black metal with the symphony stuff at a minimum....

Ill check that out Jason!!!

Btw, I dont think Hellhammer played on this. He played on their last record, but from what I remember Silenoz saying, Hellhammer was busy with Mayhem. I personally like Nick Barker best out of all the past dimmu drummers. He is just out of this world. Word is, this time its programmed drums!! I guess we wont know FOR SURE until the cd is released...or they finally let everyone know who the hell is playing on the record.

Tweak the pedals so tight that they want to hit the drum on their own. Put a trigger on the kick so it's very sensitive to touch, learn to control the pedal with your feet.

Ok...so im pissed off...
In the new song, you hear some crazy chick "singing". people have wondered wtf she is doing there. SOOOO...someone pitched shifted the song down...and guess what???? ITS VORTEX SINGING!!!!!!!!!! the guy they fired!
why did they keep his vocals!??! does he know??? i didnt believe it at first until i heard... still not believing...i A/B'd some stuff.
My conclusion is: its vortex singing....if its not...that crazy chick sounds EXACTLY like vortex when she is pitch dropped. coincidence????

proof is in the audio:
pitched dropped parts of new single....

I really like Vortex's singing. I actually think its downright awesome. But I really like the sum of the parts with Dimmu; and I think a band where he sang the whole time would not be something that I would dig.

The chics voice is a neat parallel because its just so outside the box. If its his voice; her voice it doesnt really matter to me. Maybe Im just not a purist in that sense. I really cant get on board with being angry about it if it is his voice. But I cant wait for the new disc.

thanks for posting the original link btw
