Why do we care who the best is when it comes to the arts ?
"Best" ruins good. "Best" holds back good when they are compared to each other. I hear hundreds and thousands and millions of notes played by some of the worlds "goodest" musicians that I thoroughly enjoy !
Everyone brings something different to the table. Some bring apples and some bring oranges.
The best "technician" might be the worst musician. Give me a good musician over the best technician any day.

As far as I'm concerned, the best of all are right here in Central Pa.. For instance, we had technical problems last night. One call to PMAC and he hooked us up instantly with another PA. Brought it to the gig and hooked it up. You will be hard pressed to find people like that anywhere else. Thank you Pat, you are the man.
I've always found it pointless as hell that so many people talk about who's the "best" when it comes to music. While some musicians may universally be regarded as several cuts above the rest, it is absolutely impossible to accurately nail down who's the "best" because that term is relative. Everyone has a different opinion of what constitutes the "best".
Even if you narrow it down to something specific like "Who's the best speed metal guitar player who was active during 1997" or something like that, you'll still get all manner of different opinions. It's all a matter of what appeals to you, personally. There is no "best".
