My First Build

So I decided i wanted to get into building guitar pedals and with the help of Barry Steindel and his site guitarpcb.com i've completed my first pedal build.

Its a stage 3 booster (designed by Barry). Though i already have one that Barry had built, this was probably the simplest PCB board to start out with. It took lots of patience, time and a lot of frustration. I hardly know anything about wiring/soldering. Barry showed me how to solder, hooked me up with a great soldering iron (thanks again) and i've finally finished my build. Wiring was my biggest issue - i kept doing it backwards lol.

But here it is, MY stage 3.



i messed up the decals (i forgot to compensate for the knob) oops, but it works for me. the next build is a one knob fuzz (which im really looking forward to).

This is really cool. Did you do this to save some $$$? If so, what is the price difference between buying one and building one? I build stuff like this and modify things every once and awhile. It's a lot of fun and a great hobby to get into.

i really did it just to see if i could. and now that i know i can, i will probably continue to build my own instead of spending a ton on manufactured pedals. It does save a lot of money, but its a lot of time. Price wise, depending on what board you buy from barry - and the price on the resistors/caps. If i had to guess, i'd say i have 50 dollars into building this one pedal. not bad considering the price on a new boost pedal.

its a great lil hobby to get into, i definitely love doing it.
