To me, it looks like the real marketing genius is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They saw an opening an embraced the rap artists, thus penetrating that market for sponsers, ads, etc.
The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame should probably rename itself to:
**"General Music including rap but excluding country Hall of Fame"**
Until the distribution of rap inductees catches up with Rock inductees, I think you are going to see a disproportional amount of rap artists being inducted.
