The wager is again on...
The wager is again on...
In case you were wondering...the annual Penn State-Michigan game beverage wager between ToonaRockGuy and me is again on for tonight's game.
It was nice to be on the receiving end of the case of beverage the past 2 years. I'm apprehensive about this year's game, though. Penn State has a shot to win it if everything comes together, but I think Rich Rodriguez has more on the line (like his job) and 2 weeks to get the Wolverines rested up and prepared. And Penn State's defense is still banged up, plus Matt McGloin is starting at quarterback instead of Rob Bolden.
Still, it is at Beaver Stadium on a Saturday night, and I sensed energy in the air when I was in State College yesterday. If that energy rubs off on the Lions on the field tonight, it could be a good game.
My head says Michigan may win this one, but I'm going to be the homer and pick the Lions in a close one, 27-21. Perhaps the Lions can torch Michigan's secondary and break some runs after catches (Michigan's tackling has been pathetic this season), and maybe they can generate a few longer drives to keep Denard Robinson and Michigan's offense off the field. We'll see...

I think they should leave McGloin in,they seemed to play with more confidence and poise than with Bolden, not that Bolden isn't any good but they played like a whole different team last night with McGloin.Jim Price wrote:Jay Paterno said after the game that Bolden still is the starter, but I think after McGloin's performance last night, Bolden will be on a shorter leash and might get yanked during future games if he struggles. The coaches now know they have a backup that can get it done.
