A humbling experience

Post by Killjingle »

I would like to thank JP for the extremely supportive words he had for our latest disc "What Would Judas Do" in his Year in Review 2010.

When he discussed the disc with us at a show or two I really accepted the fact that he spent a lot of time listening and dissecting it. There are lots of hidden melodies and instruments that he picked up on, and that meant something personal to me. The disc was the opportunity for us to say something that we had not collectively done so in the past; and to say it with quality that we were able to achieve was mindblowing.

A follow up to this CD in my mind is a must; but also difficult because of the overwhelming success and support we have achieved.

So one last time; I am humbled and honored that we received such a tremendous review. If in some way we are ever given the opportunity to have a national stage, we'd like to share it with you JP however we can.

Chad, at the risk of sounding "kiss ass," you cats constantly deliver the goods, whether its on stage or on disc. So many bands just throw a couple of riffs and lyrics together and put it out there, but it's very apparent with your material that you spend a great deal of time getting things to the quality that it is. I always have a lot of respect for bands that self-produce and self-produce well, because so many musicians out there aren't objective enough with themselves to self-produce well. Plus, you're cool cats and don't fall into a lot of the stupid scene politics that, unfortunately, permeate the style of music that you play.

Seeing these guys every so often and hearing the disc rather often, I have to say that these guys put it all out there on the album, and live. I've talked with these guys plenty of times, and every time, it's a treat to hear what they have to say, and see what they're gonna do on stage. I've seen where several bands are bad-ass on stage but the album doesn't show their ethic, or where they're quiet on stage even though the album roars. Clearly, The Embalmed are one of the last remaining TRUE metal acts on stage and on album, and yet so unstereotypical in who they are... A bunch of REEAALLY decent guys who love their music! It shows all the way around in what a decent bunch these guys are, and the day they hang it up will be another great bunch lost from the scene, and yet so much more!

Kudos to a great album, a great band, and a great bunch of guys!

Oh, and Jason... I'm pretty glad I don't look a day over 665. What does that look like nowadays anyway?

Slightly less wrinkled than Yoda. Yes the Embalmed kicks major ass. Hope to see them again soon. I need a fix. B
