Re: Worst....
I predicted that when it was announced they were allowed near a microphone. Then someone on here said just because I don't like them does not mean it will be a bad show.RobTheDrummer wrote:Halftime ever....

Too bad Tom Petty wasn't on speed dial. In my opinion, Tom had the best halftime show in ten years.
Also, I disagree when vocal artists' treat the national anthem as a vocal exercise. Do we need the wooooo...
Thats what you get between the "dawns early light and what we proudly so hailed"
Also get the Lyrics correct. The "Star Spangled Banner" as far as I know is not up for a renewal.
Otherwise good game, ya win some and you lose some, Congrats Green Bay> at least the Patriots didn't win./

From what I understand, Fergie was out of the Mickey Mouse Club bunch, though I don't know if she ever appeared on the show. She had a development deal when she was a kid. I'm sure the others were brought up in the corporate world as well.f.sciarrillo wrote: How The Black Eye Peas got a record deal is beyond me.
What would the Black Eyed Peas do without Auto-tune? Wait tables.

For them to get anything music or tv related, it would have to be through nepotism.songsmith wrote:From what I understand, Fergie was out of the Mickey Mouse Club bunch, though I don't know if she ever appeared on the show. I figured the halftime show would be awful and it sure was. Off key yelling over a track. What amazes me is that they must have really been off key for it to be that far off using auto tune. I guess the auto tune can't recognize the key of "Z". I wonder who thought they were a good act to book. Definitely one of the worst halftime shows ever.
The National Anthem vocal acrobatics and forgetting the lyrics was bad as well. They should have let the girl from the TV Glee sing the National Anthem. At least she can sing.

Yeah, and did you notice that after the halftime debacle the annoucers did not say anything about it? I was expecting them to say how great the Black Eyed Pukes were but they must have realized how awful they were too.undercoverjoe wrote:What really amazed me was how hard and how often the Fox sports guys pushed the Black Eyed beaners. Between every other play they reminded you to listen to the band at halftime. What was that all about?
They don't want you to switch channels during the halftime. Ad money.undercoverjoe wrote:What really amazed me was how hard and how often the Fox sports guys pushed the Black Eyed beaners. Between every other play they reminded you to listen to the band at halftime. What was that all about?
The show was terrible, however I highly doubt if someone went to see the BEP in concert they would sound that bad.
I don't know what it sounded like in the stadium, but either the sound guy at the show or whoever was in charge of it for TV should be fired. out of a canon.
Stand back, I like to rock out.

They were blaming the issues on the sound people this morning. People who where there live said that it sounded nothing like it did on tv. They also claimed that furgie's mic wasn't working and they lights on the "V" were malfunctioning. Either way you look at it, all three acts were pretty bad.
They tried to say that Christina Aquilera has some personal issues going; recent divorce, bad movie, going to rehab. I think it is crap. If they are going to pay them people all that money to play there, they better know the damn song and also perform better than they did.
My ears are still bleeding over that girl from Glee, god she was awful.
I agree with the earlier post about Tom Petty, he had the best Half SHow yet.

Those are just damage control excuses because I am sure the producers are hearing a lot about how awful the music acts were. None of their lack of talent or poor performances had anything to do with the excuses stated.f.sciarrillo wrote:They were blaming the issues on the sound people this morning. Some of the most recent good halftime shows were Prince, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Paul McCartney. My bet is that next year the producers try to go with a veteran act again.

When I saw that Christina was going to sing the National Anthem, I thought she was probably selected because she grew up in Wexford, PA, Allegheny County near Pittsburgh.
And, then she started to sing - Whoa! say can you see ....

Her mic was working fine, nobody gave her a new one. They didn't turn her on until shortly after she started singing by herself.f.sciarrillo wrote:They were blaming the issues on the sound people this morning. Again: sing the National Anthem the way it was written. Know the words, it's okay with me if you look at the Jumbotron (where they show the lyrics for the crowd), and don't sing it like it's a goddamn soul song BECAUSE IT ISN'T. Sometimes, the song is bigger than the singer. In fact, I personally think it always is.
Whitney Houston actually charted with her version for the Olympics, because while she did add some inflection, it wasn't an all-out vocal-scale-fest. And the word "free" (as in 'land of the...') is a high enough note already, it's not an opportunity to show off your range, and frankly, we don't give a sh*t about how awesome you are as a singer, it's a patriotic thing. Okay Christina... we know you have better chops than many of your contemporaries, like Britney... but, the Anthem should never be a song to further your career.

You know,... I saw the Christina Aguilera half time thing on Youtube as I worked last night. I paid little attention to it while listening, and all I caught at first was how she was destroying the notes of the Star Spangled Banner. I didn't even pay attention to how bad she butchered the lyrics at this point... Just the pure decimation of what the actual vocal keys are! So then, being the glutton for punishment I am, I had to listen to it over just to see how bad she fucked up the words. All I have to say is, I WANT MY 4 MINUTES BACK!!!
Oh yeah... I only listened to the first minute or so the second time, but damnit, I still want that extra minute back of having to rewind it and what not!

My question is: Did anybody expect anything different from the pinnacle of corporate gluttony that is the Super Bowl? Really? Did we expect the folks from Coke, Bud Light and Doritos to sponsor any artistically expressive music acts?
One of my personal favorites was Keith Urban in some tent before the game. A "country" artists with Marshall stacks and a double-kick drum kit.
