BSWP - 2012 Blues Challange

The Hawks Blues Band is excited and pleased to announce that we have been selected to compete in this year's Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania Blues challenge. If you will remember this is the same competition that The Hurricanes won and allowed them to go to Memphis and compete at the International competition.

The line up for this competition is strong and we have a lot of work to do to prepare, but wish us luck.

The competition is on April 14, 2012 at the Clarion in Greentree.

What ever your guitar player does, do not under any circumstances play through their amplifiers they provide. They are an embarrasing. And I know because I did and it sucked. When we went two years ago they wanted all musicians to play on the gear they provided. That worked for drums and bass. All the other guitar players brought their own rigs. I suggest your player does too.

BTW work on your stage show, energy and presence. Everyone there can play. Some of those bands work regularly and their stage shows are off the charts excellent. That seems to be what wins the day there.

Oh Yeah, if I remember correctly your guitar players plays through a half stack. A small combo of some sort would work well for easy on easy off...

The date is actually Saturday April 14, 2012 from 2:00 until 10:00. We will find out our start time in about two weeks.
