Making Flyers

Post by kayla »

Newb question! Makin up flyers for upcoming gigs and what not.

Wondering what kind of program you guys use. I used Microsoft Publisher for a lot of our stuff, not sure if there is an easier program or not.

know if there are any free programs available or even free online images to use as backgrounds etc etc.

any help is appreciated.

thank you!

Kayla, I normally use Adobe Photoshop CS4, it takes a bit to learn and is pricey, but it's great. As far as background images go, make sure and look for "royalty free" images for your backgrounds. If you include that in your google search, you'll find some sweet pics out there on teh internetz. Another good idea is to take a camera with you everywhere and take random pics of things. Anything can be used as a background, just use your imagination. Good luck!

Gimp is a freeware photo editing program much like photoshop. It's a little clunkier to use, but you can do great things once you get used to the interface (slightly different than photoshop).

Thought I would try to save you some cash, Kayla.

I use Photofiltre. Its free and super-lightweight. Lots of Photoshop capabilities only 10 times faster.

I recommend getting the cheapest version of breakout business cards at Walmart for gig flyers to hand out to people for specific gigs.

Make posters for the venues.
