Heads Up Vinyl Fans!

Post by Jim Price »

If you're a connoisseur of vinyl records, a new record store is opening in State College during April. Stax Of Trax Records is opening on Beaver Avenue, just a few doors down from the former Arboria Records location. I believe their grand opening is slated for April 14 (I saw the sign while I was delivering the new Pennsylvania Musician magazines earlier today).

I love the sound of a vinyl record. I will have to check the place out.

thats awesome news...since Webster's cafe in SC went out of business and Hot Topic stopped carrying new vinyl (most of it being crap but every once in a while you'd find something interesting) I haven't been able to find much good vinyl lately. I really hope they stay open for a long time and I'll definitely be visiting them on my next trip out there.

If I get to State College, I will have to check out that store. I have a massive vinyl record collection, including many rare items and records that will never be released on CD or download formats. If anybody is looking for something, send me a PM and if I don't have it, I know some other people who might.

Most of the turntables I see for sale are seem to be for club djs for the scratching noise they make. Are those turntables ok for playing vinyl records thru your home stereo? Do they have a high fidelity stylus or are they low fidelity, just for scratching records?
