How eclectic are you?
How eclectic are you? I wonder if you listen to just a certain genre of music, or broaden your horizons? If so, what all genres do you like?
Me, I listen to it all ranging from classical to death metal. If it is good music I will listen to it. A lot of it has to do with the mood I am in. I find that with all the new stuff that is coming out these days, I get more eclectic.

This sums me up also, pretty well. I can get into most anything if there's an aspect of it that I enjoy or find interesting.f.sciarrillo wrote: Me, I listen to it all ranging from classical to death metal. I'm very boring Frank. I listen to classic rock, and all the good stuff that spawned from that up to say 1995, such as 80's metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, Black Metal, and Euro Power Metal (which seems to be among my fav the last few years) I absolutely do not listen to the radio or any new music what so ever.
The only "new" music I do listen to are albums put out by older bands, and even they are hit and miss most times. There's only a handful of 'new' bands that I listen to, but they are so obscure and certainly not mainstream.
I've tried not to be so ignorant when it comes to music, but I'm very particular, so if the music doesn't deliver the goods, then I move on very quickly.

I listen, mostly, to modern rock. I like some metal, and I'll always love 80's music. I even like the cheesy ballads from the 80's. Lately, I've been getting into more technical music, like Periphery and Animals as Leaders. These bands aren't for everyone, and I don't enjoy every song, I can appreciate and respect the talent.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

It is cool to seeing the diversity. There is so much talent in music that it is silly to pass up anything you hear.
I do agree that a lot of what is coming out today is total trash (about 99.9%), but there are some good albums (That .1%) that do slip through the cracks. My favorite music still comes from the 70's and 80's.
About the only genres that I really can't stand is Hip-hop and most rap (Although I do like Snoop Dog and Eminem). And groups like the Black Eye Peas, LMFAO, and the like.

I'm a hardcore channel surfer. It's rare that I listen to an entire song in the car. I suppose I have a short musical attention span. I think that there are great qualities in every kind of music. (Some genres are like spanning for gold, but it's there.) Lately, I've been learning to play songs that I hate and flipping them until I like them.
I'd happen to think that I'm at least somewhat ecclectic, although very picky (as I am with mostly everything)
Currently looking up and down my music list, I have many different kinds of metal. I can't even begin to name a lot of the subtypes, as really, not to say it's all the same of course, but... Metal is a broad genre, as obviously, the opera metal I listen to varies from the classic metal I've enjoyed for years. I have a fair bit of classic rock, ranging from Beatles and Hendrix to 80's songs, including several balads. I have several rather obscure "goth" bands. I have a lot of the more trendy, and less trendy songs of the 90's. I even have a little R&B and rap on there somewhere (Gangsta's Paradise, anyone?). There are several adult contemporary/female singer/songwriters mixed in. And, believe it or not, but I even have a Spice Girls song (yes, I don't really believe it myself some days, but it's actually true). I can find songs on the pop stations that I actually like at times (which I fortunately don't have to listen to much, because 99% of that music is absurd anyway to even call it music), and while I'm not big on country, if it's in quite small doses, I can deal with that too, once in awhile
All it really boils down to, at any given time, is how I feel about what I hear (whether my own choice or not) at the time
