Tabs

Anyone got any good tab sites? Normally, I try to figure 'em out myself but I've had to hit the tab from time to time too.... So, what are some good ones?

powertabs.net

VERY good user-submitted tabs in every genre imaginable. It's completely sick. Looking for a tab of the complete soundtrack to a video game? They've got it. Current number of complete Dream Theater tabs: about 150. Professional wrestler theme songs? Of course. ("I'm just a sexy boy . . . sexy boo-ooy . . . .") The PowerTab software itself is an excellent bit o' freeware.

PowerTab indeed does rock. It'd be nice if the program had a nifty little slider to slow the songs down a bit though, to help one learn a little better.

Of course, you can change the tempo flags in the music, but I don't like to take the chance of messing the file up.

Power tabs sounds pretty cool, I usually just use the basic ones when I feel lazy and need to cheat. Its nice to learn things by ear but sometimes I listen to something and say " I really don't feel like going over this part 100 times " Tab is just so damn easy.

GUITAR TAB UNIVERSE IS A PRETTY GOOD SITE WHICH I USE ALOT TO GET THE GENERAL IDEA !! IT HAS A HUGE ARCHIVE OF TABS WHICH IS SEARCHABLE BY TYPE'N THE BAND NAME YOU ARE LOOK'N FOR OR BY CHOOSE'N A LETTER FROM A-Z !! THEY USUALLY HAVE WHATEVER YOU ARE LOOK'N FOR ,FROM DEATH METAL TO SHOW TUNES!!!

Tabs are great for reference or speed-learning a song... but I still find the most rewarding method is your ears and the pause/rewind buttons. (or repeatedly picking up the needle if you're super old school)

edit: That sounded bad. I meant the needle of a record player.
When I say your name, you say "here" which we will assume stands for "here I am, rock you like a hurricane."

Not to mention a musician's ears are his/her most important tool. Speaking of learning songs by ear - I remember when this dumbass trumpet player was telling me how "guys who play by ear are a joke". Then he went on to tell me how he sat in with a Jazz group and was totally lost because he had to improvise from a chart instead of reading standard notation.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
